For Sale - leaky 53 plate RS6

How many of these For Sale posts start with "It's with a heavy heart....?" Well I think I can beat you all.

I bought my 53 plate RS6 saloon from Dubbers sports less than 6 months ago for £9995.00 and have had her as my everyday runner (it's only a 30 mile round trip to work). The mileage sits around the 105,500 mark.

She has developed oil leaks. Not buckets of the stuff. There isn't a puddle on the drive or anything but it's forced out when the engine is running.

I took her for a quote to Slide motorsport who's mechanic is an ex Audi head-tech. She requires rocker cover gaskets, half moon seals, exhaust gaskets but also the turbo's need to be taken off and assessed as both leak. The right more than the left apparently. He quoted me £2000 for labour.

I'm not able to conjure up wadges of money so basically I have to take a hit. Maybe someone on here can undertake the work themselves and get a real bargain.

I'm asking £6000. We Buy Any Car has offered me £5,200. Yes I've lost 5 grand in as many months. :boohoo:

Below is the blurb and pictures from Dubbers ad:

Surely you would take it back to Dubbersport under warranty? Id be taking it back to them immediately. They need to sort it out.

You paid Dealer money for it so I would be expecting a dealer service from them

It only had a 30 day warranty.
Dubbers claim it was fine when they sold it despite me getting two independent quotes to say it couldn't have been.
Trouble is, how do you prove when the leaks started ? Just my guys word against his

By law they have to cover you for 6 months. 30 days is nonsense. The law is clear for up to 6 months. So be quick otherwise you will be stuck. Seems like they have palmed you off.

Between 30 days and 6 months
If a fault comes to light after 30 days but before 6 months have passed then you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund. It is assumed in law that the fault was present at the time of purchase unless the seller can prove otherwise. During this period, unless you have agreed otherwise, the seller (dealer) has only one opportunity to repair (or replace) the faulty vehicle after which, if they fail to repair it, you are entitled to a refund.

In the event of a refund following a failed attempt at repair during the first six months the seller is permitted to make a 'reasonable' adjustment to the amount refunded to take account of the use that you have had of the vehicle since you bought it.

After 6 months
For faults that arise after six months the burden is on you to prove that the product was faulty at the time of delivery if you want to pursue a claim for repair or replacement.

Obviously they will be saying it was fine. You dont need to prove anything. You have done more than enough by getting independent advice from garages.

Get some legal advice ASAP and make them aware of the fault and tell them to fix it. There are loads of templates on line that will help you with this or contact citizens advice buraeu.

This kinds of stuff pissess me off. You actually paid top money for the car so you should expect a service. Not 30 days warranty

He's saying his 'however many point' check they did prior to sale is proof enough, plus it was MOT'd at an independent garage and they didn't spot anything.

Bollocks. Like I said. Go through the legal route. You have nothing to lose

AJM I would defo listen to Norman! Dubbers advertise clearly that they are part of the good garage scheme so the very least they should do is financially help you out with putting the car right?? I also looked at the car and took it for a test drive liked it a lot but if I remember correctly it had a few too may owners for my liking. Whatever happens good luck and don't give the your car away that's your hard earned money that's got that! Am also no mechanic but I would be defo putting up a fight on this one I'd be bloody fuming tbh!! Good luck

Guys, I've taken your advice and contacted Citizens Advice.

Going to post him a letter tomorrow giving him a chance to repair or replace free of charge...

I'll let you know what happens

I had this with a car a few years ago, went down to the garage and had the sales manager sign and date something to say that i had given them all the details about the faults etc as it was close to the six months limit, they took months to fix it presumably hoping id cave in needing the car but got there in the end, they kept trying to get a contribution off me but just refused each time, good luck

OP, did Dubbers give you the receipts for all the work that's been claimed? Noticed they've mentioned Unit 20 for the Millie & remap, but who replaced the turbos? I would seriously doubt it was anyone respectable if you need new gaskets after that short mileage. Make them either get the repairs done or refund. Good luck.
Keep us updated fella.

OP last log in 13th Dec. So you won't get a reply

Pics above have aftermarket rear lights. So that's probably a good starting point to see if the two cars are the same one
