Still on the hunt!

Folks,
Still looking for a decent avant. Does anyone have any knowledge of this car at all?
Seems OK, but the dealer is REALLY hard work, almost enough to put me off. Totally unhelpful when it came to quizzing him regarding the service history.
Anyway, just on the small chance someone may have some prior knowledge, the link for it is...

Many thanks
Greg

Take a look at it's MOT history. In August 2017 it seemed to have a higher mileage than it does now?

Advertised as 3G but it's not, it's 2G.
Bargaining point if you go ahead

I think it’s an ex forum car Greg.

It belonged to rtd on here

Good spot mate. The seller claims to have ‘owned’ the car for nearly a year, running it as a second car. However, when I checked Cazana, it looks like he’s been trying to sell it for that long. It may be that he hasn’t updated the original advert with mileage. He doesn’t appear to have taxed it either, so probably just driven it round in his trader policy

Thanks. Forgive my total ignorance, what does that relate to?

The Avants were initially released in 2008 (2G) then face lifted for 2009 (along with the release of salons) with some Avants having various of the differences (ie different speedo etc can't remember all the detail differences) but all face lift being 3G.
All salons (intentional) were face lift and 3G as standard.
2G/3G relates to the MMI system, again not sure of all the differences.
3G slightly larger display and higher resolution. much higher no. address book for phone 2000 v 200 (?) not sure what else....
Wasn't a deal breaker for me, the fact that there as so few of these available to buy at any time, many other things more important/desirable.
The 2G can be updated DIY to the lastest software 5570 (for 2G), which gives 3D maps, improved music sound, and many bug fixes.

Brilliant. Many thanks for taking the time to explain. Everyday’s a school day for me ;o)
Cheers

Thanks for the replies guys.
Really useful.
Had a good chat with rtd. As I thought, if you smell a rat, you’ll generally find one. Another advert I can cross off the list. Arggghhhhh!
I’ll keep looking!

I thought you would make that decision once you had spoke to RTD

Another one’s appeared. Seller sounds like a genuine guy and a looks like most mechanical bits seen to. He’s also selling a C5 saloon. Few cosmetic rectifications needed and slightly high on owners, which for me isn’t really an issue.

Reg is OY08UPA
Any previous knowledge or owners on here able to shed a bit more light at all please?
Many thanks
Greg
