MikeFish's RS4 Saloon for sale
Posted: Thu Oct 05, 2017 8:44 pm
So, I've been talking about it for ages but now it has finally happened; my much loved RS4 is up for sale.
Much of the history of this car is recorded in my build thread; link in my signature. Unfortunately, due to Photoshop being a bunch or ***** most of the photos don't show up anymore, but I think if you click on them they might still work.
Even though I don't believe in it, I had it carbon cleaned by MRC. It recorded 438ps / 482NM, and it won't stay like this but it was literally driven from MRC to my house then to the car dealers so has only done 150 miles since being cleaned; just for you! Many cars being sold with carbon cleans carried out a year or 2 ago which is pretty much the same as never being done.
Here's the details:

Gutted pre-cats (MRC Nov 2012)
OEM exhaust modified by removing centre resonator
Exhaust valves disconnected & pipes blocked (by MRC)
Revolution Carbon Air intake with Pipercross dry filter
Cold air feed with larger than normal 102mm pipe. These cars normally have an 89mm CAF as that is similar to the size of the trumpet on OEM air box but with the open carbon intake the larger cold air feed makes a big difference with regards to reducing heat soak.
Secondary Air Injection System removed and mapped out by MRC
Carbon engine cover (RH side)
Matt aluminium rear bumper strip sprayed Phantom black
Front grille replaced for genuine Audi Black Optic version
Window trims sprayed in matt black
Wing mirrors sprayed matt titanium (L8AU)

Full Main Dealer Service History
On longlife service but serviced once a year now irrespective of service schedule in car (9 services at Audi to date, see above for details)
Last service December 31st Dec 2016
Full carbon clean carried out by MRC May 2017 at 72406m (approx 150 miles done on it since). Dyno graph included reading 438ps
New track rod ends fitted by MRC April 2017 72406m
New oil separator / breather cyclone and seal conditioner MRC April 2017 72406m (due to smoky exhaust)
As part of the above work it also had new oil and filter at the same time so effectively it was a service but I didn't get the service book stamped or clock reset to maintain the full Audi Service History
Had respray carried out to entire front end to get rid of stone chips by Reflex Auto Design (July 2016). Also both sides sprayed around the rear doors / wheel arches to tidy up chips / scratches
New front left driveshaft fitted June 2017. The old one didn't actually fail; it had a misplaced or damaged retaining clip which caused the drive shaft to slip out and damage the splines. I suspect the clip was not put back properly following the CV gaitor replacement
Oil Cooler & pipes changed for Forge Oil Cooler July 2014
New OEM carbon engine covers fitted to replace yellowing originals
New Coolant reservoir fitted (no fault, just for looks)
Both Clutch switches replaced (nothing wrong with old, just a precautionary measure)
New MAF fitted July 2017
New nearside Aux radiator fitted November 2012 (offside removed for Cold Air Feed)
New Audi windscreen fitted Nov 2014 (proper OEM Audi one)
3 shocks and pipes replaced for latest type in Autumn 2013. Only one had failed, the other 2 changed as a precaution.
All left hand CV gaitors replaced (front & rear, inner & outer); (rear nearside inner, front nearside inner 2014) the other 2 in June 2016)
New front suspension top arms fitted same time as lowered (and replaced again when 034 adjustable ones fitted June 2016)
New starter motor June 2016
New offside engine mount June 2016
All 3 Steering Rack bolts changed for new ones June 2016 as a precaution (common issue)
Spark plugs changed 31/12/13 at 57779m
Brake fluid changed by Audi at last service
Brand new lower trim for steering wheel to renew badge (to freshen up badge)(now scratched by wheel alignment Shop (grrrrrr!!!)
Brand new fog light grilles to replace modified ones
255/30/20 Goodyear Eagle F1s with 5mm tread left
New central vent (dash) replaced as paint had a flake missing (like that when I bought it)
New Tool Box and no missing tools
Boot lid struts replaced as it was a little slow to open
Recent Hunter 4 wheel alignment (all green), then aligned by MRC when they changed the track rod ends on April 2017
Replaced rubber petrol cap securing strap as it was starting to perish (also had new petrol cap fitted at the same time)
New tyre sealant in boot as the original one was about to expire
Pads were OK but I changed front and rear anyway ready for sale
Front discs changed on 03/07/12 at 46828m
Front disc thickness 33.4mm (range is 34-32mm so plenty of life left in them)
Rear discs changed at 65,000
Rear discs thickness 21.3mm (range is 22-20.4 so again plenty of life left)
The bad
I don’t know if the exhaust valves work. They previously worked when last used but as I have them disconnected they probably need a little help to free up if you want them working again
Slight smoke from exhaust when cold due to no precats and no secondary air injection. Not a fault. Well documented issue on RS246 forum.
Annoyingly, the bottom steering wheel cover has a scratch after replacing for a new one just for a new badge.
Exhaust flexis are damaged, common problem on the RS4, especially lowered ones. I asked MRC to check and replace if required recently when it was in for a health check and they didn't think there was any need to replace them.
Also included;
Carbon interior trim in excellent condition
Original rear lights in excellent condition
Original air box and filter, unknown if it still works or how new the filter is
Something like 5 sets various of logo'd car mats as well as the set in the car which includes a logo'd boot liner.
I have put the car up for 'sale or return' as I don't have the time to or inclination for test drives etc.
