The time has come for me to part with my very much loved RS4 B7 Avant. :(

I have spent a small fortune bringing this car back to a high standard from when I bought it a year ago. I’m looking to sell only because I want to move on to another Audi. I’ll be staying within the RS fold.

Notwithstanding the purchase price, I also have receipts totalling £11,938 in the last year for servicing, repairs and upgrades to this car. I hope that goes towards demonstrating my attention to caring for the car. All receipts in my ownership are individually laminated and filed.

This RS4 has been rewarded for it's loyal service and driving pleasure appropriately by being maintained to the very best of my ability. It has some minor faults in line with its age and mileage, but is also an incredibly rewarding car to drive.

The registration shown in the photos can come with the car but is currently on retention - this can be negotiated as part of the sale if you're interested in it.

It will be a very sad day to see that car move on to a new home, and I hope the next owner enjoys the car half as much as I have done. I have well and truly bitten the RS bug, and it's all down to this very car.

Bad points:
  • No problems whatsoever on normal driving (or spirited driving) however clutch will “stick” down (usual RS4 problem) when launched.
There is a very small oil leak from the secondary sump. MRC have investigated this and advised me to leave it. By small, we’re talking 1 or two drops of oil a week maximum. Nothing is ever left on the garage floor, it’s only noticeable when the undertray is removed.
I think there is a problem with one of the rear vents behind the bumper – this may have been a consequence of its previous accident. There is a slight smell of exhaust at high speed with the windows down (I believe exhaust is being drawn in from the rear of the car somehow). It’s never bothered me so I haven’t chased the fault down.
The front end has some stone chips commensurate with the cars mileage. It’s would benefit from a bonnet and bumper respray if you were a perfectionist.
Good points:
  • As you can see, the car has wanted for pratically nothing in my ownership, either from Audi or MRC. I would welcome you to call (and I’ve given my permission for them to answer freely) Ben / Doug @ MRC to tell you their honest opinion about the car if you wish. The car is one of the most powerful NA B7's on the forum - and you really notice it when you drive it. There is torque everywhere and effortless power whenever you want it. The car benefits from a complete MRC stage 2 setup and is derestricted - proven to be capable of 180mph if you wish. The car is also able to lap the Nurburgring in 08:30, so is an incredibly well rounded package - retaining it's ability to perform daily driver functions and be used on track if you desire. It's equally at home in either place.
I've spent some time retrofitting things to make it a nicer place to sit - the Mk2 RNSE and Apple TV for example (with Video in Motion) mean that passengers can enjoy longer drives with internet streaming entertainment if they wish. I've retrofitted the carbon trim for a touch of sporty feel, and genuine audi bluetooth for convenience. There are also other small touches like a hard-wired/ignition switched inverter if you need 240v, installed in the glovebox.

This one should fly off the shelf. Whoever get's this one will not be disappointed.

Considering the amount of work done and Ross's approach to ownership this is a steal...

Thanks all - really appreciate the feedback. I tried hard to make a very honest and through advert!

Yes, I'm moving (hopefully!) to a C6 RS6. If I could keep this car as well I honestly would.

Been advertised for about an hour and already had an offer - hopefully it wont stay on the shelf for too long :)

Fair play man, I've been considering the move to an RS6 for the last month but I dont do nearly enough mileage to warrant a car of mine let alone an RS

That was a very well written ad, GLWS Ross, it's a great car and I'm sure someone will have it soon.

RS6 is a good choice, that would be where I would go next also, They are immense!

Ross you monumental wally, don't do it! Are you mad! 12k spend!! Real shame to sell this car having got it totally sorted

If the car was last serviced by Hitchin Audi May 2014 at 123k, 100% advertise your car as having FASH, it wasn't due a service for another two years / 20,000 miles

That engine bay is so clean, it puts to shame cars with half the mileage

Let me know how you find the C6 please Ross should you get one. I have thought about this once or twice myself but from what I have heard about the handling it put me off. I wonder if the saloon is any better..?

Have to say that I too want to move to a C6 but the missus has made me promise to keep the B7 for another year.

I've just spent the last hour on Ebay/ autotrader etc and this is too cheap mate. There's one with 163k on the clock up for 15k. I'm pleased to say that the prices seem to have soared since buying last year. The average for a high miler seems to be 15k so assuming you've found a car that you like and want to sell quick, I'd put it up for 14.5k as that would still be the cheapest available on the above mentioned sites.

Ross, have you done any proper driving in a C6? I haven't but have read a lot of views on it and all say the same thing, barge like handling. And those coming from a B7 don't stay for too long, Watts springs to mind as the most recent B7 to C6 convert. Make sure you have a good drive in one before you sell yours or at least speak to some of the guys on here that have converted. I know they sound great and are easy to tune to immense power and straight line speed but as a guy who likes the track I'm not sure you're gonna have as much fun.
Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against the C6, in fact I keep considering one myself as it's the latest RS saloon Audi have made but it's very different to the B7.

Than you all for the comments.

I know it's cheap but its hard to value a cat d car with "high" mileage. As I said it's the cheapest rs4 in the country right now which means it'll sell quick (but no, I won't take £11k like one offer :D)

I know the handling of the c6 is poor to none - but... In looking at what I really want I mainly use the car for runs down the dual carriageway and motorway - and three or four times a year would track / ring trip it. For driving to and from the ring I don't think you could beat a c6 to be honest, and certainly not on the motorways. I guess what I'm saying is I don't want to compromise 350 days of the year real world driving for 10 odd days maximum of track use.

I'm ready for the switch I really am. I'm old and fat now and need a car to match ;)
