Firstly my apologies. I realise this is an RS forum but I thought it's worth a try..
Priced to sell at £40k. The car has less than 300 miles on the clock, practically delivery mileage. Happy to take peoples opinions on this price...
It's a brilliant car and I did 8000 miles in an identical one earlier in the year. This one is a replacement from Audi as the original car was incorrectly spec'd. Hence I'm happy to take a big hit on the purchase price. I would take it back to my dealer but they've shut up shop.
Alternatively if you have a good honest RS4 Avant, i'd swap it for that and some cash.

Interestingly an Audi stealer offered me £33k for the car. It retails for close to £55k, understandably nobody pays retail but honestly that's a joke isnt it? For a car that is less than 3 months old.
Anyone more clued up than me willing to offer some insight as to what the car might be worth? I know it's an undesirable diesel barge.

prob no help to you but i have a 62 plate a6 allroad which cost me 50 on the first of sept, great car but a bit of a let down after a r8 so i enquired about a s6 avant that was on a 12 plate dealer demo with 3000mls asking 62,they offered me 33 for my a6,you can prob guess what i told them to do, and as for your a6 being a undesirable diesel barge all i'll say is mine does 45mpg on the daily commute and cost 170 tax per year and carries loads of stuff in the back, not many cars out there that do that with the level of comfort/quality you get in the audi

this is ridiculous. brand new cars losing £18k the day they are registered. at least I'm not the only one in the same boat.
you are right though, the new a6 is a capable car and I proved that driving 8k miles in less than 3 weeks. that being said its a barge and I've lost all joy for driving it. also the wife hates it and won't drive it. so half the reason for buying it
is gone.
But 33k is just ridiculous. what you gonna do? hope to sell it privately or keep it for 4 years and make the most of it?

wait till the right time to trade on at the mo there are a lot of dealer subsidized cars about, try when its a year old you will prob get offered the same money,i fancy a new rs4 but i'm hoping that it a bit of a failier like the rs5 was so i should get a better deal, also driving somethink a bit boring thru the winter is prob not such a bad thing,i traded my r8 because i knew it would take the shine off of it slopping thru the shitty winter months as a daily driver
where are you based by the way are you in the south east as the dealer that offered on my a6 was cambridge audi and they have offered stupid trade ins on everything i have phoned about, was offered 18000 for my rs4 but got 26000 when i got my r8,some dealer just try it on and expect the buyers to have no idear as to what there cars are worth

I'm in London. Spoke with 3-4 of my local stealers. One sales manager told me the exact same thing that ill get the same money in a year as I would today.
Apparently being new isn't really a selling point in the used car market
One stealer offered to throw some paint protection and extra warranty/servicing on a px with a RS4 they had in stock.(and 33 for the a6) It was a 2006 car and they wanted £28k lol!! I said it better be 5 years extra warranty and servicing to make it worthwhile.

Was it not possible to try and arrange some kind of credit note with Audi instead of taking delivery of a 55k car you didn't want and selling it with 300 miles on the clock? I've driven a 3.0 TDI with a DSG quattro transmission, it was very quick smooth and economical, but 55k!!!!!!!!!!?!
Perhaps I'm just envious that I will NEVER be able to buy a new car like this without giving a flying toss about the 'mineshaft' depreciation!

Think the list was about £56k but I got around 12-14% off or thereabouts.
And it's a bit presumptuous to think I don't give a flying toss about depreciation. It's a sting trust me. I could have had a pristine RS4 and had enough change to buy the misses a 330 coupe or something. Anyway live and learn, it might be a while before I think about buying a new car again!!

Some people may look at an ad like yours with some suspicion, now I aint saying your dishonest so please dont take offence but I would ask why it was being sold and what was wrong with it ?. If you have owned and run the car for a year it shows its all fine n dandy
On the subject of depreciation my dad bought a BMW 325 brand new in 2000 with all the options it was about £35k ( he never admitted to the full price he paid ).
Drove it home and had a heart attack the next day, unable to drive for 6 months so car stayed in garaged. A year later he was offered 9k from the same dealer with the car having only 1100 miles on the clock. the best offer was 12k and that dealer promptly put the car up for 18k a week after he bought it.
In some other circumstances that would be illegal
Its like the wild west out there, I am getting buried in my car ( have you seen the price of a coffin, and thats with no sound system or air con !! )

I'm looking at swapping the S4 for a C63 (what a machine, even in the wet if wasn't too shabby) and I am waiting for a trade in offer on my 7 month old S4. I think the offer they will give me may make me cry which essentially will mean keeping the S4. Not a bad thing but as mentioned above the trade in offers are savage. I'll let you know what they say.

Bet your young lady is chuffed with you, she didn't seem too happy at ADI that you wanted to change the suspension let alone the whole bloody car

As soon as I mention a new car or a mod she gets a bit savage with me. She (correctly) thinks there are better things to spend money on. I just can't bloody control myself and can easily be sold a fast car or something to make my car faster.

Fingers crossed looks like I'll have the sale by the end of the week at my asking price.
I got another call from the Audi group that sold the car to me, they offered £35. Can't say I'm too surprised it's probably a fair trade offer given that the have to sell it on and make a profit . These cars don't seem to be going for more than 40k at the minute unless you have the BiTDI engine.
I've always had new cars, but sub 30k cars and they were all on lease/finance. Some how paying monthly you don't quite equate the value and handing the keys back at the end with nothing to pay feels like a relief. This is the first time I ponied up and bought outright myself and I tell you what I'll think long and hard before doing it again. I'm lucky that Audi fucked up and gave me a new car, otherwise I'd be in the same position except with a 7 month old car with 10k miles and probably closer to 15k out of pocket. Anyway happy now it looks like it will be on it's way.
