RS sales are slow?

Post by c3nturi0n » Wed Nov 06, 2019 6:15 pm

In recent weeks i noticed fair amount of RS cars on sale in the country.

Many seem to (re)appear for sale on multiple occasions suggesting they are NOT selling. I wonder why is that the case?

You wonder why? Really?
Car market is on its arse at the moment and the RS/M5 etc sector is always among the hardest hit when it is.

Might be a number of other factors:??!

1. Brexit Bollox.. people are nervous.
2. Climate emergency... people worried about petrol prices
3. A carbon tax will kill the market for everything but a 'Pius'
4. Elections have a habit of killing off consumer confidence
5. Xmas is coming and the Kitty needs filling
6. The weather is crap.

that validates my assumptions and thx for sharing your thoughts :)... on the flip side, what's really interesting is that some cars retain their value irrespective of doom and gloom we are going through (say 911 is a good example).

ps. i still think there is a market for performance 'family' cars.

I'm now selling at £20k.
Sailed through its MOT - no advisories.

911? That's what I'm moving to.

Just go into a 911 with open eyes. The difference between an enthusiast owned well maintained one and another that seemingly “needs nothing” can be an easy 5k. Great cars though - and that applies to nearly every model.

I had an '91 996. Drove it virtually every day for 4 years with no problems. Fab! I appreciate your sentiments and I'd 'caveat emptor' anyone buying any vehicle: do your homework.
Agreed market is slow! Given that, there are buyers out there, looking for a bargain and there are sellers willing to sell at prices that make sense.

Thats weird, as Audi stealer told me that they fly out of the showroom (Mon Motors) - I've had 2 calls on my car and not yet advertised it, from comments I've made on here, about prepping it to advertise it next month - Theres a bum for every seat I guess.

Echo some of the statements here-people aren’t buying too much at the moment due to uncertainty of the future market. If the U.K. goes into recession (albeit hopefully for a short period) then would you want funds tied up in an expensive asset?
I’m in the same situation having sold my M3 Competition a few months back (the extra £££ in my account every month is mega) and now just driving the cheap runaround. Hoping the market will clear and get back into a decent car asap but am waiting to see which way this whole thing goes and am not the only one doing that currently.
Mind you a canny buyer with a risk aggressive attitude may be able to push dealers harder. Have seen plenty of RS6’s just sat at the same dealers for months now.

Interesting and thx for sharing your insights.

It's kinda sad that UK (read govt) is becoming so anti motor unless one opts in for EV or hybrid these days.
