Considering selling B7 RS4 Saloon

Post by Recy_G » Sun Nov 04, 2012 9:20 pm

I was planning on keeping my RS4 for another year before selling but lack of use makes me think it would be better in someone elses hands. I am not advertising it anywhere, the last thing I want is dreamers and test pilots bugging my life, hopefully that won't happen here. I am in no rush whatsoever so if it doesn't go to a new home I'll continue to love it :)

I will put pics up as soon as I can, probably next weekend now.

2007 April Registered Daytona Saloon

Bought from Audi Approved in January 2011 with one previous owner, FASH and all the warranty and assurance as per Audi Approved cars

I continued the warranty (Mondial) in January this year for another year and it can be extended again in January 2013.

It is garaged and used every other weekend, I love driving it and its driven purely for pleasure. Bought it with 25k on the clock and is now 31746 miles.

Serviced in December 2011, and currently reading 339 days or 15500 miles until next.

New Vred Sessanta tyres all round 3 thousand miles ago

New front Discs and pads put on when I purchased her and new rear discs and pads fitted on the last service

Run on Shell V power since I've owned it and warmed up fully before hitting that magical 5500 rpm

Front DRC replaced on last service and it had the DRC replaced before I bought it too although the dealer couldn't be sure which ones, useless.

Taxed until Sept 13 and MOT is in April

Factory options are the Technology pack (RNS-E Sat Nav, 6 Cd Changer and Adaptive front lights) and a Sunroof

Bucket seats, Carbon inlays, Silver headlining, Flat bottom steering wheel.

2 Keys, V5, Manuals in RS4 wallet and servicng history all present.

Body and paint are immaculate

Bad points;

Audi very slightly damaged my front alloys on its last service, obviously they offered to get them fixed but then they can't guarantee that they'll match the rears!! They want the car for a week and I just don't trust my car to be sat in their workshop for that long. So just left it in the hope of finding a decent Wheel repairer to get all four redone or buy some RS6 wheels as a change

One of the TPMS valves is corroded and leaking air very very slowly. About every two months I need to top up the air on it. I think its £150 from Audi and it would be getting done on the next service.

The exhaust valves squeak a fair bit just now, just not had the time to get underneath and oil them up.

The silver trim around the windows is starting to age, common fault and expensive to replace, considering getting it vinyl wrapped to black.

Drivers bolster slightly worn, sligthly scuffed from my jeans I expect.

No mods.

Off the top of my head thats everything, feel free to ask more questions or PM.

If I was to advertise I'd be asking £25000, knowing that it is a good car and certainly worth it.

I'm putting it on here now as it might appeal to different people and their opinions. I'd rather the new owner chose what to do, wheel colour on refurb, vinyl wrap on silver surrounds, renew the warranty etc if that makes sense?

So, please, no offers below £23000 and if you are serious please have sufficient cleared funds and fully comp insurance to bring along.

Thanks for reading.

From a buyer's point of view I have a few comments (not sure how helpful they'll be, but hopefully not just being annoying).

1. - The DRC is pretty high on the "likely to be an expensive headache" list, so having only the fronts replaced for sure means the rears would be on my mind when viewing the car.

2. - Exhaust valve - are you sure it just needs oiled? Odd squeaks would have my ears twitching and I'd be worrying about the vac system being an issue.

3. - TPMS valve - not a big deal in my mind, though I'd likely look at replacing it sooner rather than later if only to save having to keep the tyre topped up.

Low mileage cars are still just out of my budget, but if this had black Optics pack and the Supersports suspension, I'd make you an offer once my S3 was sold (the current bane of my life - nothing wrong with it, just can't get it shifted!).

Just my two cents, but I don't see how you'd have any trouble shifting a low mileage Daytona saloon - everyone's after them right now!

Just a point on the valve. They screw onto the TPMS sensor so you'll only need to replace the valve. They're around £20 from Audi + maybe £10 to remove and replace tyre. . Would try a small squirt of WD40 into the valve first to see if it help free it up and stop the leak.

Cheers for the comments guys,

I will speak to Rob at Camberley Audi to see if he can find out which DRC got replaced before I owned the car. When the fronts got fixed last December Rob said it it now a cheaper process than what it used to be to repair leaking DRC. It is covered by the extended warranty if a new owner wishes to renew, if not I will be renewing anyway, but my asking price would be nearer to 24k.

I am confident the squeaking exhaust valves have nothing to do with the vac system, there is still a boost at 5500rpm. I will try at the weekend to lubricate them and post on here how I got on. Again the Vac system should be covered by the warranty and or the MOT protection of £750?

After my car got damaged in whats known to be the most recognised Audi main dealer on here for customer support I am very reluctant to let them have it again so yes the TPMS valve leak is a minor problem and I didn't have to tell anyone but I want to be 100% honest as not to waste anyones time including my own.

Hi folks

My car will be advertised for sale on Pistonheads/Autotrader from 18th February 2013

All the Tyre valves have been replaced which has fixed the slight air leak on the back tyre

The Audi Extended Comprehensive Warranty has been extended for another year and can be transferable to the new owner. Expires 16/01/14

I have loads more photos PM me if there is a part of the car you would like a picture of. Once I've checked to see if these three have worked I'll put more on.

Having looked at other cars on the market I plan to advertise the car for £26000, your opinions and advice are as always appreciated

Looks very nice mate and would be tempted but can't go back to Daytona I don't think.

Does it hve SS+ as it seems to be siting pretty low at the rear?

Same dilema we all spoke of a year or so - What do you go to after these great cars?

Fair doos.

Hmmm tough one, I think the key is to have two cars, one being the B7 minimum.

I scratched the itch with the track car, now I cant see me selling my B7 at all now, as I would love a new car but do I need a new car? no.

Sorry for the thread hijack OP

worth tweaking the bonnet gap at the front - it's well out.
