From the Audi UK website:

"Press for action

Add to the thrill of driving your TT RS with the Sport button. Pressing it sharpens the throttle response, alters the exhaust valve control.- opening the left exhaust bank lower in the rev range and, where fitted, turns the Sports mode on for the Audi Magnetic Ride system.

The result is an even more exhilarating driving experience. Even at low speeds the smooth, deep rumble is enough to turn heads and at high revs you can hear the charismatic five-cylinder engine in all its glory."

Apologies for the thread-jack! Essentially I agree with your write up!!

Did you have TC off?

No - ESP and traction were both on. Shocking.

I've come across this once before in an A3 Cab. The hood of the Cab IS quiet, however the mic just wasn't taking out the background noise.

CraigyB came and fitted a newer model Mic which improved it...

I wonder whether this would help? It doesn't matter if the car is going back, but just saying...

Funny you should say that

Missus had an A3 cab last summer. I borrowed it on a sunny wkend to drive to Manchester, roof down¤ so I'm on the M6 toll doing a good speed, roof down, then my mate calls me. He could hear everything I was saying albiet I had to shout abit!

The TT is <beep>. Its the same on my missus' '61 plate Black Edition, it is quite literally USELESS

so the car was 3.5months old and did 7,000 miles

front tyres 5mm
rear tyre 7mm

normal due to front engine ... or highlighting the FWD haldex bias ?

...or weight distribution over turning wheels but I like your reasoning waaaay better. Question: which tyres would be well worn on a 'true' quattro car over the same period / mileage? I'm pretty sure my rears wear out before my fronts.

funny you should say the Mr Bam ... as i have my vehicle conditon report from my first B8 S4 ....

that one had 9,323 miles ( c.3 months old)

fronts 5mm
rears 6mm

more even wear, despite a heavier 3.0, 6 cylinder lump upfront

Yep, rears on mine seem to be wearing faster.

Well to be fair the fronts had more tread when I bought it (approx 7000 miles ago). I noticed this on the last service sheet which I recently dug out for reference with the next service due. Strangely the left rear is now noticeably more worn than the left right. High speed late night roundabouts in MK possibly?

You're almost certainly more in the know than me DK when it comes to all things Audi, but I have a TTRS brochure at home which I'm fairly sure says that Audi Mag Ride is an option if you opt for the 18" or 19" alloys, but is not available if you go for the 20" wheels. IIRC it also gives it as an option on the configurator on the website...? :?
