Metallic rattle on startup

Has anyone else had a strange rattle on startup?

It sounds like a chain catching on a cowling. Car has been into Audi over the last 2 days, they can't find anything.
It is quite a distinct noise, low and behold it didn't do it once while in dealers.

It follows RPM also, after a few mins of aggressive driving it goes away.
Sound comes from bulkhead, anyone know whats down there?

Hope you can help.

Cheers,
Jay.

Nope it's not the tongs. They were in my shoulder bag with my tampons, makeup and styling kit.

Anyway, stop dissing the TT, everyone knows its the best car in the world, EVER. :sleeping_2:

Had a few TTRS being used on ADE that had cam chain rattles until the tensioner picked the slack up on the timing chain.

Can you pin point it in the engine bat at all when it does it?

Cheers Ricky

Hi Ricky,

Can't really pinpoint it. It seems to come from behind Nav area or driver footwell. Somewhere round bulkhead anyway.
It went into dealer for diagnosis but failed to reproduce the rattle.

It sometimes sits in garage for weeks before I turn the key. Maybe that's the problem.

The car is now sold, so I don't have that problem anymore.

Thanks for your reply, would be interested to hear if that turn out to be the issue.
