End of an era...

Post by HYFR » Thu Nov 29, 2012 9:49 pm

Well after 3 TTRS'S in Sepang, Misano and Panther, my TTRS goes back tomorrow and I will not be getting another

All in all I have done about 20000 miles in these 3 cars and so know them very well.

I won't go on, but I'll give my summary closing thoughts

Good:
Gearbox, simply fantastic
Engine, an Audi legend in the making
Noise, great 5pot sound
Launch control, there is very little in the world this side of a Porka 997 Turbo Service that, on a damp/wet day, can keep up with it on a launch to 80mph

Bad:
Looks, not special enough and basically gay
Ride, single most worst hatred of this car, it's ridiculously harsh and totally ruins the car imo
Brakes, fade too quickly
Handling, understeer everywhere and very numb
Practically, it has none

All in all, I will not miss it one bit an am glad to be getting rid of it

Tbh, I don't really regard it as a 'proper' RS car

I'm picking up a Suzuka RS 3 tomorrow....let's see if that is any better

Lol, PMSL.

Good luck with the '3 tomorrow. Hope you find it as enjoyable as your '4s were.
Report back tomorrow.

Nice summary fella...how do you think the 3 is going to fair?
Have you seen the top gear review of the b8, dave? They gave it a 7/10,the write up I would say was more favourable than damning...maybe worth a read as you will have one in a couple of months...

I'm really hoping the RS 3 will be a great car

It will beat the TTRS On looks and practicality...just hope that the ride isn't bone hard and the handling so numb

Sorry couldn't help it, made me laugh at least.

I'm not sold on the looks of the B8 yet. Quite often it takes a while for me to start liking the look of new models. I don't think the arches are in yor face enough, I think it's too subtle, like the RS6. I think when I see one in the flesh though it will change my mind.

Mike, believe me...the arches are the real deal and MUCH wider than the C6 RS 6
So far my favorite is colours of those I have seen in the flesh is Daytona and Prism Silver

Imo, the B8 looks better than the B7, and I didn't think that until I saw one in the flesh

I'm glad you said that because i keep looking at the photos wanting to like it more and hoping that maybe when I see a new colour that will suddenly make it look beefier. I keep looking into Audi Victoria every morning as I walk past in case they have one in there but I've yet to see one. They sent me an invite to go see one at their showroom a while ago but I couldn't make it.
