It is a hefty price tag.Ok you cant buy a new one now but RS4s were only a little more and im sure you could get a new M3 with a bit of negotiation for about the same and get some rear seat space as an extra bonus

I hear that.
IMHO I need a turbo... E46 'tho quick, doesn't feel quick (that's from my own experience)
Now, turbos, one or two of em, makes you feel quicker, simple as.

Thats not talking about remap potential...

It may feel quick but when you get passed by a N/A car that has serious power in it that feeling will soon go.

I prefer using visualisation of scenery bluring past rather than forced induction thump in the back to show how quick I am going.

Agreed. A wee bit of a shame however, that Audi (and BM) seem to be shying away from high revving N/A.

It's emissions and efficiency that is driving that and TBH, forced induction does give that. But I like the propsect of hot summers so the more CO2 I can produce the better. Let' all drive massive V8's like the Americans!

It seems Audi can't win. It wasn't long ago we were reading posts saying if it doesn't have a turbo then it's not a real RS !!

The problem with RS4/RS6's is there big barges and they feel it to drive. I'd certainly be interested in a TTRS if it has the RS straight line speed and handles too.

Sorry to say this guys but my girl friend has an '08 3.2 TT Roadster and dare I say it, she IS a hairdresser! :bash: She did consider waiting for the TTRS but at the time the salesman could only indicate that the starting price would be circa £44k. With all the necessary toys you'd be looking at £50k+.

It does seem a bit odd that Audi would make a TTRS because IMHO the market for this car isn't normally your 'petrol-head, tyre smoking' enthusiast (see my opening statement!) It’s no surprise to me that they only figure on selling 60 Roadsters this year.

All in all, I think its an interesting car with the old 5 cylinder engine back in the frame, good looking and probably worthy of the RS badge but I think you be hard pushed to find any current owners of RS4’s willing to change but I don’t think that was ever Audi’s intention.

I think that’s what they call my tuppenceworth.

Why Paul? If it is as fast as an RS and handles like an RS then why shouldn't it be badged on?
As said further down this thread Paul, the RS marque is not just about speed & handling, it's the fact to date RS has always meant seen as an Ubber Wagon by being able to tick all the performance/handling boxes in a far more understated fashion that for instance Porsche, but has a huge practical advantage.

RS = everday car that can keep up with cars way out of it's league, but can do it without shouting about it. The TT-RS although probably a very capable car does smack of a TT that's driven through the front window of Halfords for some bolt ons along with a power uplift. I recall somewhere that the chassis is unchanged from a regular TT & the suspension is also basically stock TT.

I guess it's all about perception & i will defo be driving the TT-RS either later this week or when i get back off holiday as it does interest me.
