Have driven one, and also owned a 3.2 (new shape) a few years ago.

Its basically a bit more nimble and feels a bit lighter, but you cant fit anything in it! When you said two small kids in the back, you meant foetuses I presume! The rear seats are smaller than a 911's, but at least it has a boot.

Its a great motor, without too much turbo lag, and a good soundtrack. It feels back end light under serious braking but well ballanced once your into a corner and pulling out of it. The only problem I have is it is still a very feminine car - maybee for the wife of someone who has an RS4 rather than the man of the house! And with the big fin on the rear (which can be specced as a normal pop up I gather) makes it much less discrete than the Rs4 and RS6's.

yea.... BUT £48,000 ish

now thats a big lump of money concidering what else you could buy.

Personally I think Audis are way over priced now. I bet you could spec that RS TT up to £60,000 without too much effort!!!!!!!!!!!

Why Paul? If it is as fast as an RS and handles like an RS then why shouldn't it be badged on?

Gaz,

I don't care if it goes past me like a rocket, IMHO, it will forever be allied with hairdressers.

I agree it has devalued the RS brand. The RS badge is not just about performance, but practicality and exclusivity...

If my wife goes ahead with a purchase I won't moan if I have to drive it...she can put her curling tongs in the boot.

But for that money you could have an MRC'ed 800hp S1/S2/RS2!

A real man's car.

Yep the TTRS is slated ON TRACK handling but not on the road. I still think it's just not a proper RS!

TTRS = poor mans R8 in same way Boxter / Cayman = poor mans 911.

All great cars IMHO, but if I had one of the lesser ones I'd always be looking at the R8 / 911 with a wee bit of a petted lip regardless of whether it wore an RS badge or not.

Just my tuppenceworth. :bigblink:

Well, there's that as well. He did take it on some twisty billiard table smooth roads as well though remember, that would have given it a good work out!

Aah dont we all just love this forum, we all get to have our say, winge and moan, praise as well.
But criticism of something 99% of you dont even know what your talking about?
How many of you have test drove this car?, how many have actually seen it in the flesh?
Not many i'm sure and out of the few that have test drove, how many have gone over 1 mile, around the block from the audi garage?
I picked this car up at 9am and took it back at 5pm, drove it for 130 miles around some of the best driving roads in the uk.
How often do you get opportunities like that in your RS4's? I am lucky to live where i live, 1 fixed speed camera 18 miles away, thats it ! Very little traffic at any time as well. So when audi offered me the car for the day, i jumped at it, had a day of work and put it through it's paces.
When someone else on the forum do's the same, then perhaps they could offer valid criticism.
TTRS=TT on steroids, like the RS4=A4 on steroids.

O and the roads weren't billiard table smooth either, you try driving mountain roads at speed, through standing water thats run off the mountain, 90 deg hairpins, watching for the odd suicidal sheep. It's great fun, it's where the 5cyl turbo engine made its name, where audi forged it's it's great 4 wheel drive system.
If anybody fancies a great fun day of real driving, then let me know, i'll gladly host this for you guys.
Maybe i should start a new thread, whose up for it?

Got mine sorted for next week so will try and post my thoughts on it but as you say yes let's reserve judgement until we've all driven one.

I still don't think it's going to make me want to order one like the B7 did.

Good write up. Thanks for it.

Saw the TTRS in the show room when my Six was in for (frequent) work.
Hairdresser still is linked in my mind, but maybe with the RS is should be butch lesbian hairdresser.

sorry for that.

Anyhow, why does it not have fog lights??

I wouldnt buy a new one EVER it will cost you about £15k in the first year and i just couldnt afford or stomach that, the info ive recieved so far ie the r8 owner with one glued to his bumper and Gazzers first hand experience it seems like VERY good tool but im not quite sure were it fits in the marketplace though especially with its price. The hairdresser and woofter image is a worry!!!! I hope the RS shakes that off
