Although I think the orange colour is a little horrific, I like the look of that a lot and can't wait to see a black with black optics car later in the year when they arrive in the UK

Oooh I'm liking that! - I reckon other colours will set the car off better, but as a KTM fan that would be my choice if I had the b@lls for it - matching seat belts and stitching too, just in case you forget!

Is that an adaptive cruise control sensor I see in the second shot? - oh dear, yet more option boxes to tick...

Same seats as in my S4, I thought they would have done something slightly different with the RS4 interior. Am I right in thinking the RS4 just has more powerful engine/exhaust etc and better styling and bigger wheels?

Essentially, what extra do you get above an S4? I guess this is very spec dependant but I hope you get what I mean.

Looks like a monster though. I really like the red one that was displayed in Geneva.

I popped into my local dealer for a chat about the B8, and I posed the same question about what it'll offer above the S4
His response was that it's a return to being a 'serious driving machine' and that it'll have features like being able to adjust the front/rear drive through the MMI etc
He said it was going to be a totally different experience to the RS5 which I was disappointed in

I guess the truth is that we'll have to wait and see, but I'm certainly hoping its as good as my B7 as there's nothing on the market I could replace it with currently

Could replace it with a B8 S4? For me very similar performance with a much nicer interior, this was my reason for not getting a B7 RS4. I would love those arches on my S4 though. I would like to do a head to head drag against one.

The dealers would say that though, they have no idea as I guess they haven't driven one either.

I love the wheels and grill of the RS4 above. I also love the way the exhaust in integrated into the body.

If anyone in the Bristol area gets one can I have a look and listen?

You'd be surprised how close it would be in 90% of situations
An RS4 delivers its power much higher up the rev range, so in gear times at lower revs are very similar
I've a friend with a B8 S4 and in a drag race, it's a lot closer than Audi marketing would like you to believe
I've not compared it, but I believe that on a track, the better outright grip and handling of the RS4 accounts for a much larger time gap.
From my perspective FWIW, the interior of the B8 S4 is beautiful, but the V8 NASCAR soundtrack and the drama of the power delivery of the RS4 is something a bit special

You're right about the dealer. This guy claimed to know directly from the factory, but the reality is that he was just following what the marketing pack tells him

Interesting comment about the RS4 being completely different drive wise from the RS5 whern it uses the same engine, running gear, transmission, gearbox and ECU's which is what I was given by the Audi marketing guys on the stand at Geneva so I wonder how your dealership sales consultant works that one out? And the drive select I think he is talking about is an optional extra as is active diff and ttorquee vectoring as it is in the S4.

There is also a B8 S4 facelift out now so the new RS4 is not only going to have to be better than the B7 but also £15-20k better than the S4. Tough ask.

Why do you think drive select and active diff will be more when it is std on the RS5?

Some of the anticipated premium of c£15k over an S4 has to be this type of eqpt surely not just the engine!

I think the diff and ads is standard on the RS4, I've spec'd it on my new S4 and it cost a couple of grand.

Just what was suggested by the marketing guy on the stand as being options.

The one I spoke to on the stand said he really didn't know about specs at the minute as they had not been confirmed
