Tyres
I know this has been done to death, there was chat on here a while back with regard to who favours what. Found out today my fronts are borderline due to the steering rack being gubbed, I also need a bottom arm and ball joint, the <beep> just keeps piling up for me just now.
Anyhow looks like I'll be in the hunt for a set within the next 4 -6 weeks, these Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s I fitted last summer were exceptional grip wise, longevity I did expect a bit more life, though the rack hasn't helped the fronts.
Pretty sure someone bought a set of Contis.. anyone looked at the higher end Hankooks, Dunlop Sportmaxx, Goodyears.. Camskill generally is my go to reseller, I've used them for years and the service and prices are generally excellent/as good as you will get.
Interesting to hear anyones views: NB Michelin have £60.00 cashback on a set.
Hankook x 4 delivered £740.00
Sportmaxx 4 x ......... £780.00
Mich PS4 x 4 ............ £890.00 inc Cashback
Contis (7) x 4 ...........£925.00
P Zero x 4 ...............£930.00
I tried a set of Uniroyals on my B7 and driven hard they squirmed quite a bit from memory, great tyres otherwise..
Comments welcome..

Re: Tyres
Evening
Currently running set of Mich PS4's, grip is good when dry, only had traction control light flash when pouring with rain. Had a set of P zero's on an old 1.8T A4, 2004 plate, got rid as thought they were crap, over rated!! Had Hankook's on a golf gt tdi, would buy again. Only had Conti's on our current Mondeo, are good when they are new with loads of tread, but near end of life, alot of road noise, wouldn't buy again.
Hope it helps somehow, get the Mich ps4

Re: Tyres
Been running a set of Pirelli P Zeros now for 6 months - very happy with them, and a noticeable improvement on the Michelin PS2s they replaced, and infinitely better than the original P Zeros the car came with from new.
£1000 for all four fitted, which I thought was very reasonable price at the time.

Re: Tyres
Pirelli Tyres are ok until you put a MPS4 on the car, then you realize how rubbish they are. I find over time they crack as well and I have had bulges on the side wall (I have noticed one of mine, yet again only yesterday! so Ill be changing them out now) so I would never buy them again. Goodyear Eagle F1's are very good, and last year won the best overall performance tyre.
So ill be going MPS4 or maybe MPS5 or F1.

Re: Tyres
I've got Michelin PS4s on my 'other' car, and yes, they are a good tyre.
My Michelin PS2s were beginning to crack on the shoulder, which was one reason why I changed them.
However, as I still have an Audi extended warranty which I have continued since the 5 year warranty ended, I'd rather fit an RO1 rated tyre, if only to negate any suggestion that that 'none RO1' tyres have been fitted in the event of any transmission / diff / final drive issues in any warranty claims.
Although P Zeros have retained the same name for many years, apparantly there have been design and compounds enhancements over the years which have resulted in them being far better tyres than the ones fitted from new.
I am more than happy with how they perform - a noticeable improvement.
Possibly I'm being over cautious about the warranty aspect, but as we know insurance companies try to wriggle out of claims - possibly even those acting on behalf of the Audi warranty.
Having said that, I have just had some DRC pipes replaced under this warranty due to a leak / split pipe with no quibbling whatsoever ....

Re: Tyres
Cheers for the replies guys.. TBH the Pirellis I had wore fine, these Michelins I have on are amazing but way too soft, typical semi track tyre.
I'll make my mind up one way or another next month after I recover from the latest bill !
Looking to PS4 or P Zero's... no word from anyone on Contis on an RS ?

Re: Tyres
Michelins it was, Michelin authorised 80 quid cashback day after I bought them, so pretty slick process so far, although I haven't received the 80 quid as of yet.

Re: Tyres
Exactly what happened to the front pair Pzeros on ours! Found out and replaced yesterday. I'm in touch with Pirelli and arranging for tyres to be returned for investigation.
Tyres dated 2022, forgot the precise week. Loads of tread left. Gutted, but glad to find out on a ramp, not in a ditch after they went bang.
