Tyre pressure sensors

Post by MGD » Sat Feb 25, 2023 9:49 am

Hello

Does anyone have any experience of tyre pressure warning going off when tyres are all seemingly ok?

It’s a recurring issue after I’ve driven for a few miles that it goes off. I’ve been checking the tyres regularly and the pressures have been consistent.

Tyres were done a couple of years ago and have plenty of tread.

Do the pressure sensors need replaced periodically? I’ve heard that on VAG vehicles the batteries for each sensor need replaced - is that the case here?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Matt

Doubt the batteries are replaceable Matt, likely a new sensor required, someone with direct knowledge will likely be of more help on this..

FWIW any sensors I've done in the past were swap out job's, that was on one bike and My VW Touareg.

Thanks Stuart,

I suspect you’re right. The possibility of a cheap and easy fix on these is highly doubtful :p

Thanks Stuart,

Looks like they only have sensors for B7 or B9. It’s in for service and mot soon so will hang fire before doing anything.

Plenty online, don't think I'd be that precious about OE, loads of aftermarket at considerably less moolah

Hi guys,
Happy to be proved wrong but I don’t think the B8 has these types of tyre pressure sensors, rather it uses the rolling circumference to detect an issue rather than the specific pressure within each tyre.
Cheers,
Matt

I assumed they were bog std TPMS senders. Your hypothesis sounds much more interesting MJ Image... be good to know.
