Hi,
I believe my car has never been cleaned for carbon deposits on the valve and inlet trajectory. It has now run 180,000+ km's
Is it indeed high time to get the carbom removed? The car otherwise runs fine, but when buying it at 150k kms I may never have seen its original performance....
Thanks for any thoughts..

Re: Walnut blasting inlet trajectory
Hi,
I believe the B8 engine did not suffer from the carbon build up around the valves that the B7 version did, and not heard of walnut blasting or other carbon removal being needed on this model.
I put 30k miles on my B8 in my ownership and did not see a drop in performance over 3 years.
A specialist may be better placed to advise of course!

Re: Walnut blasting inlet trajectory
I’ve done about 290,000kms and replaced the inlet manifold plus did walnut blasting probably around 180,000 kms. Mine is a 2014 build, which I’ve had from new.
That sharpened up the response minutely, however I was really searching for the positive uplift.
I have replaced the DRC at around 220,000kms and that was a notable return to its former glory, but only did it because it was getting wallowy and pogoing when going over speed humps and the like. So if it drives fine then don’t worry about it.
So, you may never notice a difference after getting the carbon removed
Hope that helps.
If you want to know other things to be prepared for then happy to run through stuff. Major issues have been the suspension and recently replacing the cats (brilliant design for manufacturing … not so much for replacing, as they are integral with the extractors)

Hi
I’ve got a 2014 RS4 with 49k miles. Keen to stay ahead of any major issues as hoping to keep long term. Any preventative measures you have come across would be good to know.
Thanks
Matt
