Dip stick oil levels

Post by Scammo1 » Thu May 27, 2021 12:00 pm

Does anyone know the quantity of oil represented between the min and max marks on the virtual dipstick?

Am guessing about a litre but that is a complete guess!

I think it’s 3/4 of a litre, let Google be your friend

1 litre took it from “just at minimum” to “just full”

But ... the system did say I could put in up to 1.5 litres

That was 3 days ago .. so fresh in my mind

Is there an actual dip stick on these engines? And where/how easy is it to access?

I believe there is a dipstick hole situated on the left hand front of the block (obviously! ;) ) - right hand side if looking at the engine. The plastic trim has to be removed to access it, and it is plugged - intended for a workshop manual dipstick check if necessary. Dealers have a dipstick with different capacity markings for different vehicles solely for manual checks.
I only believe this is correct as I watched an RS5 of the same era as the B8 RS4 having its level checked manually at a dealership, so I presume the RS4 is the same.....but will stand corrected of course!

I believe this plastic intake has to come off and the access to the dipstick hole is underneath.

Assuming that you find the bung for the dipstick hole, don't forget you'll need an actual dipstick of the correct length and level markings. There won't be one in the block.

Found it, got rubber bung on top, couldn’t be bothered to take air inlet cover off 🤷‍♂️

Good to confirm at least that the RS4 actually has one as well as the RS5
