B8 RS4 Market Feb 2021 - MM mutterings ...
Just in case any of you are interested in my surfing of the market, there are now approximately 40 B8 RS4's for sale as of 15/02/21.
The majority are on Autotrader, with a few unique ones on Pistonheads. But as you might expect, the others are littered on a wide variety of different websites, including:
Motors.co.uk
RACcars.co.uk
theAA.co.uk
ebay.co.uk
gumtree.com
cargurus.co.uk
heycar.co.uk
As we know, prices vary wildly on spec, mileage and condition, but the two equal cheapest I've seen are up for £18,995. One is on Gumtree (Private sale - 2013 with 84k miles). The other is on NewsNow (Private sale - 2014 with 119k miles).
The most expensive is up £38,990 - a private seller in Berkshire with a 2015 Special Edition in Sprint Blue and only 20k miles!
The market average price for the cars on the market is about £26.5k. Pressing the obvious button, the market pays extra for a Full Audi Service History, high equipment levels and low mileages. The market average for mileage appears to be about 45k miles (4k higher for the 2013's and 4k lower for the 2015's). The highest mileage car I've seen has done 119k miles and the lowest 20k. A couple of other low ones are down at 24k and 29k - so it is still possible to pick one up, but at a price ....
I have found a one owner car, but the average is 4 previous owners, the highest has had 7 previous owners!
Most dealers are looking for at least a 10-15% premium, often with a decent warranty being optional rather than standard.
No surprise that some private sellers are rather unrealistic in what they are asking (beyond that of some traders / dealers).
There are a much higher proportion of vehicles for sale in Scotland than I expected. The majority for sale being north of Birmingham, with loads for sale in Manchester, Bradford, Leeds, Nottingham, Leicester etc.
Still looking and lurking for the right one. Although I'm struggling with the price differential to a Nogaro Edition (and it being 517miles away during lockdown), my current fave is this one: https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11242250

Nogaro's are lovely but the spec is poor. Main reason I got rid of mine.
Worth knowing when I was trying to sell my Nogaro, no one appeared to see any premium with it being a Nogaro edition but thats probably the usual salesman tactic of when you are trying to sell no one wants them and then we you are looking to buy "these are very rare sir and fetch a good premium"

Out of interest, what did you want in terms of spec that you didn't have? Memory Seats? Seat Heating? Pan Roof? B&O Speakers? etc.

Re: B8 RS4 Market Feb 2021 - MM mutterings ...
I could be tempted out of mine for the right price. London based.
15 plate, 21k miles, FASH with Audi warranty until July. (I purchased from Audi Reading in July 2019 at 12.5k miles). Sepang Blue.
Pretty sure it’s got the majority of extras aside from bucket seats, panoramic roof and memory seats.
WBAC are offering £30k. PM me if you’re interested.

So it sounds like owners keep them if there are so few on the market? That’s positive, seems to be an Audi all the road testers liked when it came out.
Guess you have a budget MM - are you going to get one?

WBAC? Oh you really don't want to sell it to them!! Because when you turn up to get it looked over, there will be sucking of teeth and they'll say: "well there are lots on the market - so we can only offer you £25K". Hideous organisation stuffed with dinosaurs of the motor trade IMHO!

I know its a minor thing but heated seats was the big one, I only realised it didn't have them weeks into ownership. I just felt it being a run out model they should have just included the seats, sound system.MadMark wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 3:22 pm*Taps nose and points* Them and Estate Agents! There is no denying the colour though, they look incredible but if I was buying again I'd go for a high spec in something like sepang which still looks very special.
Good luck with your search.

Gotcha - I think I'm with you on that and Sepang is where I'm headed. I don't think the Nogaro Editions are worth the premium. Probably never were, which is why they were slow sellers and they pre-registered the remaining unsold cars.simundo777 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 12:47 pmI know its a minor thing but heated seats was the big one, I only realised it didn't have them weeks into ownership. Interesting that you mention the average is 4 previous owners. I bought mine from Audi Nottingham in 2019 and it had 5 previous owners. The car has been great no issues and no sign of any previous accident damage but it still worries me why the car had so many previous owners. Perhaps it's normal then. What I would say is that the cars do ride firm and so I guess some might find it too full on and change after a year.
Audi said my car's previous owner PX'd it for a new RS4 so I guess there is also the affluent / easily bored factor especially when the cars were £40/50/60k.
In terms of desirable options apparently the panoramic roof is one of the most popular.
Fontain Motors dud a buying guide on YouTube recently which is worth a watch too.
Servicing and brakes can be expensive especially the 40k service.
Happy hunting!

My Noggy is a good spec. Because it is not a Noggy edition one but an individual paint option. Buckets, sunroof, black pack etc. It must be of not many though.
Stunning colour.
Must add Merlin purple is also a stunning colour, must have black pack for me though.

2015 RS4- Nogari Blue, with buckets and Milltek
Ariel Atom 4 with carbon Wings. But a little bit scary.

As long as the owners look after the cars, there isn't much of an issue, it's more how the trade values them. As petrolheads we get bored and so most high performance machinery will always have more owners than your average mundane machine. However, there is one car on sale, close to me, that's had 7 previous owners and I would draw the line at being the 8th for a car at 7 years old.hindsight wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 6:54 pmInteresting that you mention the average is 4 previous owners. Good shout. Yes I saw the Fontain video and I've talked to Alex, because they are local to me. Nearly sold him my RS5 a few years ago too.
The brakes are definitely an issue I've picked up on. Not cheap and prone to issues when used very hard and not allowed to cool down. I've also picked up that some of the garages that have changed them aren't aware that they are "handed" left and right ....
The 40k service does seem like a "biggie" - but then a lot of work needs doing! I'm less scared of that than the DRC going wrong though!
Thanks hindsight!
