Hi peeps

I have installed a res delete on my rs5 and found it to be very loud, now my exhaust flaps hadnt been working so i forced them closed which has the desired effect for when needed.

Now trying to find out why my flaps are not working, looking under boot floor to find the whole pump/ tank for the vacuum missing!!

I have ordered the tank and found the relevant vacuum hoses in the boot but i cant find the feed that comes from the engine- does anyone know where in the boot this is ?

It may be diff on the rs4 but the location of the feed should be the same- the below pics show the hose i mean the variations of tank are different but the location of the hose should be the same, need to know where this enters the boot- thanks in advance

Seems rather extreme to remove the tank completely given that just disconnecting the pipe would have done it!
From what I have worked out the vacuum is taken from the inlet manifold via the black rigid plastic pipe that runs down the side of the car within the wiring loom.
My tank looks more like the white car than the other one. Worth checking that the end of the pipe is sealed off or you will have a vacuum leak all the time!
Also it seems like the actuators are prone to seizing on the butterflies after years of exposure to the elements, hardly surprising given their location.
You might be able to get them working again but stuck shut they will cause a restriction in the flow.

If they are stuck closed you should keep below 5,000rpm till you fix them to preventany damage.

The Cete module that can override the factory control won't let you keep the shut over 5k as the exhaust is too restrictive in the upper reaches of the rev range.

Strange for tank to have been removed really, if it turns out to be the exhaust flaps too I have the rear system available

Out of curiosity, do you still happen to have the rear system? I've got the same issue with a stuck right valve which no end of degreasing and lubing will fix for good so seems like a replacement system is the only real alternative. Unless there is a simple way of blanking the vacuum feeder hose in the boot, instead of fannying around under both back boxes removing the hoses straight to the actuators...

Sorry I ended up giving it to the scrap man 😵 it was in my way & not many buying them as there’s a few on eBay all the time

Seems like most systems of the age we have will have sticking valves. I believe some engineering companies can fix this but a dealer will most likely only replace.
