Darkside developments / fab mafia downpipes
Anyone have these ‘non-resonated’ downpipes?
https://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/ ... e-kit.html
I’m not overly familiar with the RS4 exhaust system having only owned mine for just over a month.
Are the boxes in the downpipes resonators or are they the pre cats that people recommend removing?
I don’t really want to go to the expense of a full system, and want the exhaust note to remain not too obnoxious when in comfort mode.
Also, is an exhaust fabricator likely to be cheaper than the off the shelf units from the website above?
Cheers

Re: Darkside developments / fab mafia downpipes
I have a set of these.
They replace the downpipes so remove the small resonators in the downpipes between the cats (B8.5 only has one set in the manifolds) and the mid section of the exhaust system.
They are much larger and have consistent diameter so will help flow
Very impressed with the quality!
They are being fitted next week along with a Capristo res system.......very excited!

Re: Darkside developments / fab mafia downpipes
Yes looking forward to hearing what you think of them, although I’d just be looking to fit them on the standard system so won’t really compare to your capristo system.
The videos of the downpipes with a standard system on their YouTube channel sounds like what I am after though - just want to liven up that V8 growl.
I think I’ve been getting confused with all the posts on B7 pre cat removal.

Re: Darkside developments / fab mafia downpipes
I am hoping for the right balance somewhere between resonated system which is just to quiet and a non res which is too loud.matthew.lewis2 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 10:34 pmOhhhh, good find. I already have the resonated Capristo, will be interested to hear what these are like on G30001’s car!
Going to the exhaust place Monday so he can assess the work but reckon late next week they should be on.

Re: Darkside developments / fab mafia downpipes
What did you notice just with the downpipes fitted, seems like in the video, they didn't rev the car in standard format, but when the downpipes fitted they did. Didn't really sound much different, but in person I'm sure would have sounded better.
Is there a real improvement in sound, do you get more of the V8 burble?

Short clip ....Darkside downpipes but still retaining OEM sports exhaust. Could i go louder? Probably ....but I wanted to go one step at a time. I like how it’s civilised for normal driving but sounds angry when you boot it. Keeps neighbours happy for those cold starts
