Sprung a leak

Post by G30001 » Tue Oct 06, 2020 9:16 am

Jumped in my car Sunday morning to a literal puddle in the driver footwell, water was coming in from the driver side corner past the bonnet pull.

Now it has stopped raining I poured some water through the sunroof drains and these flowed out nicely at the front of the door shut below the hinges which was a relief so tried the front corner by the ECU box, still nothing.

Poured it down the passenger side of the windscreen and bingo as it flowed down the central windscreen wiper drain poured into the footwell.

So looked up online and there are many guides and tube video's on how to unblock the B8 middle drain hole, problem is they are all bore 4s that have the battery there you take out. RS4 has a load of gubbins in the way that isn't removable like a battery.

Anyone had this issue and managed to get to the drainhole without major surgery of having to pay a garage to do it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Had a footwell leak caused by Audi over greasing the sunroof and blocking the drain hole!
(should never of had that serviced!)

Are you certain its definitely not those drain holes?
I tried the same pouring of water around the sunroof cassette
and although water came out of the side drain holes it took quite a while for it to penetrate into the car,
which made me think at the time, maybe it wasn't the sunroof and more the scuttle holes being blocked.

TBH it hasn't stopped raining long enough for me to test it again.

I did think I need to try each section on it's own and leave for 30 mins before moving to the next area.......but it keep raining.

Will persevere as I can't drive around with my feet on fire for the whole of winter

Did anyone get to the bottom of their leaks into footwell?

I have a damp passenger footwell not sure if it’s pano roof or bulkhead drains?

Yeah had it pulled apart and it was the Pano Roof Cassette, a bond had split.

Had it done and now have a dry car.

Looking at around £2k all in for parts and labour.
