Perhaps dealers should just sell cars 🤷‍♂️ I’ve just had similar issues. Went to main dealer with knocking from front off side. Initially they recommended re gas £240 made no difference. Went back then told it’s the shock that’s gone. New shock and second re gas £ 1345 total. £ 1585 and guess what it’s no friggin different as if they’ve done nothing
Call me old fashion but if I’m paying north of £160 an hour I’d expect someone to know what the f##k they’re doing .
I need to calm down before I go back so off to Spain for a couple of weeks 😁😁😎

Sorry to hear that. Mine went in to the main dealer just before my warranty expired with a knock from suspension and after mot mentioned one front shock had light misting of oil. They were very cagey about the shock, saying it was "serviceable" and told me they'd identified the knock as being the passenger seatbelt missing some felt! Of course it wasn't the issue but hey....

On one hand I felt pleased nothing was wrong but also suspect it was to avoid a warranty pay out...

Mine is a 2014 car and I'm wondering whether to move to a decent independent next time as I'm sure they'd do a better job but for future resale value most people want to see full Audi service history...

Had to post an update for a laugh.

Got this quote back 30 mins later.

H:O:L:Y S:H:I:T batman!!!!!

Glad you managed to get a realistic result! Good news is they "want to buy your car"...

Maybe that's part of their scheme?!
The thought did cross my mind mate. Dealer book price minus £11k. They would have got a steal!

An hour?! Lol they called me back in less than 30 mins ImageImage. Could have at least left it an hour lol. I wish I’d taken some footage of everything start to finish for a YouTube video. These guys need to be outted properly!

I know you’re right but surely a “Master tech “ should know what they’re doing considering they only work on Audis ffs 😫😫😫

They’re not master technicians or master mechanics. They are master part fitters, that’s the problem. Their only answer to any problem is “replace it, and everything around it, till it works”

I’m sort of committed with Audi at the moment as they have £1600 of my money🤷‍♂️ That may change if I get a refund. It’s a very frustrating knock which then once the car has been driven for at least 30 to 45 minutes becomes a bit of a metallic rattle 🤷‍♂️ To me it would seem to be something that as it gets warm it expands and touches something else but no idea what. Starting to really annoy me now as I do like the car.

Does it sound like a loose spanner in the back when you go over any little bump in the morning?

Hey, better decision is to hire https://www.mechanictucson.com/ mechanic for not to water more time and money.

My DRC front shocks have just bit the dust. Car is a 2015 with 29000 miles and suspension started to knock. Garage told me that it needs 2 front shocks, pipework and system recharge. Luckily my warranty is picking up the bill.

Got the car back today and the ride is so much better. The really annoying knocking has gone and the car ride feels great again.

Defo go to Audi specialist and not main dealer as they only carry out the work required, carry it out to a better standard than a main dealer and its far cheaper.
