DRC again & again
So first front left hose burst in February & now after only 1200 miles the front right shock has gone , I’ve got three options not involving a Jerry can
New shock & recharge of DRC £859
Used shock with 12 months guarantee & recharge DRC £460
Set of Kw coilovers £1900 & no DRC to worry about again
Would like your opinion as I think the DRC is great when it works & with most things it’s about the money too

Re: DRC again & again
Option 1 would be my choice.
I like things to be factory spec and as you say, DRC is very good.
Second hand? You can’t skimp if you own a car like this. I wouldn’t even consider it.

Re: DRC again & again
Yeah I get what you’re saying & it’s not skimping , I was thinking put a used one on to see how it goes & then if anything breaks in the next 12 months it’s KW’s
Re: DRC again & again
I put coilovers on my C5 RS6 back in the day as DRC failed after the car was 3.5 years old. Just avoided all this nonsense to be honest and never had any issues in the following 6 odd years I owned it which I guarantee won't be the case with DRC.
You pays you money and take your choice as the saying goes

Yes that’s the thing I don’t want to spend a grand every 6 months, I’m not wanting to skimp either so I’m aiming towards the KW’s
Re: DRC again & again
I won’t be replacing DRC....coilovers, again though I’ll buy expensive.

Re: DRC again & again
Yep KW’s it is then , there’s not a lot of choice tbh
Re: DRC again & again
If you go down the KW route would you keep the adjustable (comfort/auto/dynamic) suspension?
Am sure KW is well judged but wonder how firm it is compared to comfort/ dynamic? Anyone know?

Re: DRC again & again
The DRC modes will be deleted & as for firmness I’ll just spend a little time adjusting to achieve an happy medium , I did the same with the evo as the billies kept failing

Re: DRC again & again
I’m in the same boat. Both front shocks on my 2014 (58,000 mile) RS4 have failed.
I’ve ordered the KW V3’s and have also been informed it’s a 6 week wait (I heard that all V3’s are built to order?? )
I’ve also ordered the 034 upgraded top mounts https://store.034motorsport.com/strut-m ... s5-q5.html for the front and Febi Bilstein top mounts https://www.amazon.co.uk/febi-bilstein- ... B006DHYE10 for the rear.

Re: DRC again & again
Anyone with DRC issues on these cars , please look a the success we have had on the B 7 models with the KONI sport dampers ,,Its a fabulous solution and the car will be more comfortable and handle better than standard , The shocks come tuned for the application and results are brilliant
coil overs only do low and lower and many owners dont want to lower the car , The KONI dampers and H&R springs coupled together will give great results and a 25 mm drop which is more than enough for this type of car .
Kit is a set of shocks and electronic delete or these with a set of springs £ 900. to 1200 quid for these .
Also important to remember is the KONI shocks offer a firm ride on smooth surfaces ( handling ) and softer ride on bad surfaces ( comfort ) so no need to worry about the selectable damping on the dash these shocks do it automatically .
