Rev counter

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but does anyone know why some rev counters show RS and others RS4?

I thought I had read RS4 labelling was only on later models but the 2012 launch cars in the you tube reviews show RS4 in interior shots and I think the 2015 brochure also shows RS4 so I'm not sure that explanation holds.

My car is a late 2014 model and shows RS, not RS4. I'm wondering if it depends on which options are selected, or perhaps Audi ran put of RS4 labelled ones briefly?

Any answers or amusing conspiracy theories welcome

It changed for the facelift model. I think towards the end of 2014 or there abouts

That's what I'd read somewhere but doesn't square with the 2012 cars having rs4 on the rev counter.

Other than the rev counter what was facelifted in late 2014?

It’s the other way round. The early ones (like mine) have RS4, the facelifted ones just have RS.

Thanks, that makes sense. Do you know what else changed in the facelift?

I think the paddles got bigger, mine are essentially hidden by the steering wheel, the later ones stick up more. I’m sure there are many more tweaks, but I’ve had mine since early 2013 (not having much patience I bought their demonstrator), so haven’t cross shopped for a later one. When I got mine there were only about 80 around.

Thanks both. Might just be me, but none of FAQ links seem to work. I'd meant to mention it before. Rest of the site works fine but not the B8 RS4 FAQs....
