New to brand - a few questions..

Guys

Not had an Audi previously - currently run an M2 and M3 CSL, but need an estate so an RS4 Avant is on my shortlist. It’ll be a weekend car / c.4k a year.

Went to see this on Sat, which has really piqued my interest. https://www.burford-carsales.co.uk/used ... re-1971932

Seemed to be in great condition with many options ticked (seats, pano roof etc. Even the engine rocker cover was in CF). FASH. My questions are:

- Does anyone know the car ? Or any opinion on spec good / bad ?
- Are there any specific issues with early B8 cars (this is a ‘13) ?
- Can an extended Audi warranty be put on these cars if it’s previously lapsed if they have FASH ?
- Heard some negativity about the dynamic steering - justified ?
- Heard previous noise (internet chat) on the high cost of some consumables for B7 - e.g brakes all round (pads / discs) c £4K. I’m not worried about high maintenance costs, but anything in particular I should check to avoid a nasty bill early on ?.

My criteria is a reasonably quick, fun car for A-road / motorway driving to get a pet dog around in when required.

Thanks in advance.

Looks a good example with a lot of extras
Warranty you can get but will be at least a grand from Audi
Dynamic steering I find alright, not the best but wouldn't stop me from buying a B8, I've owned mine for 4 1/2 years
Make sure brakes look ok and tyres have plenty of tread or budget for them in haggling.

B8s are great all round cars, plenty quick enough for B roads and great load luggers on motorways

Good luck with the search

What has taken you so long? I told you to get on with it on the 5th of January. Get that M2 up for sale, you know it’s the right thing to do.

Can’t give you any advise on the B8 but welcome along.

Cheers

Some personal stuff, delay on dog arrival plan and my general lack of homework delayed proceedings....but I had a spare morning and went and looked around this on Saturday....and was wowed. Now doing homework !

Let’s sort the important stuff out first, what sort of dog are you looking at? A proper dog for a proper car I hope. Are you looking at B8’s specifically?

I am going to start test driving the latest Rs range when I have a spare moment at weekends, see what tickles my fancy, might even head back to bmw for some fun too, no one needs to know my cheque book will be staying at home.

Cheers

Read the recent threads - plenty of chat about potential issues, cost of brakes etc.

You can check out extended warranty here:

https://www.insurewithaudi.co.uk/extended-warranty

Again, read the threads. I and others have aid half the quoted price for Audi warranty.

Would have checked it out for you but need the car reg number

Also it looks like a cracking spec car - rarely seen one with as many 'toys' Seats and blind spot mirrors super rare

Let us know how you get on

Looks lovely, I have buckets and Pan roof and would not want one without them now.

it is a great all rounder

it will be expensive to run but it is a junior supercar underneath.

Watch out for lurching gearbox and make sure you have a warranty that covers it ($10K plus claim limit) and that it had 36K service and then 20K from there minimal.
clunking DRC is also a big bill if it goes wrong and you don't have warranty.

Mine doesn't have Dynamic Steering so can't comment on that :rocker: .
