After 12 interesting months in an RS3 I’m on the look out for another car (preferably an RS again) and spotted my old B8 RS4 up for sale.

It’s only done 6k miles in last 18mths and managed to get the number of previous owner from the garage whose selling it and mileage stacks up and the cars never missed a beat. Done 46k now and up for 30,995

I’m always one for looking forward and not back but miss the V8 instant throttle response.
However I drove a friends C7 RS6 yesterday and reminded me of the advantages of a turbo charged torquey engine too.
So pretty torn as B9’s still too much money
and not sure if I want a pre facelift leggy RS6 either.
TTRS look great but hardly a family wagon and Golf-R estates are great sleepers too and with an APR tune they will give an RS4 a run for their money.
Tempted to hang out until facelift RS6’s start dropping down a bit as new model due later this year.
Thoughts as im a bit torn...

I’d take your B8 back - and sit out the next 12-18 months and watch it unfold.
RS3 is at strong money because of the lack of new car delivery, so a great time to flip.

It'll feel slower than the RS3, but like you say the noise and throttle response is the flip side. The RS6 is lovely but from the few drives I've had, it was too big and heavy for hustling around B-roads. Given the following it has, the residuals are strong and I think the new one maybe a 2020 car, as the RS7 will be first I believe.

Good words Sam, love the C7 but can feel lardy
on twisties. But I’m sure the run out PE’s are
amazing.
Going to contact garage again and see if a better
deal can be done.
Just found the RS3 to be soul less unless you were giving it full beans.

I pity the poor fellow that loaned u an Rs6 !!! Facelifts not too expensive now even pe hitting 60 k now , you don’t really want the B816 back do you ? All that lack of mid range torque !! I miss my noggy B8 and sound of the capristo but that’s about it ! Turn to the dark side take the big 6 and it’s better economy and cheaper road tax
