Out of curiosity, how have you diagnosed this ? Normally the visible signs are excessive black smoke from the exhaust...

It’s a whistle that comes on tick over, or coasting below 2k. There are 2 valves, one is physically pulling a vacuum through the breather hole suggesting the diaphragm is gone. Cars not pulling oil through like you say, I think this is because there are two on the b8, where there was only 1 on the b7. Had to go to my mechanic in the end as I gave up trying to find part numbers, £115 for the part alone.

Yep, local specialist sourced it. £180 fitted. Diaphragm was shot.

Which side had gone? Where did you spruce part from..

Very quick fix (even I can do it)

Right hand side, specialist got it so no idea. Defo a diy job, vat and labour always bumps up the price.

This loud winning noise,

Hi all,

This noise appeared yesterday?

It appears to happen when your NOT accelerating!

When you accelerate it appears to stop.

Happens at tick over

However if I unplug right hand side one (as you face the engine) it’s stops

If you unscrew the oil cap does it stop? if yes, you need the part.

I’ve pulled off the plug from engine side & it stops, similar to removing the cap?
