Rs4 b8 or sq5???

Post by Rs4mar » Thu Oct 18, 2018 10:12 am

As the title suggests I’m in the market for an b8 rs4 or sq5. I used to have a b7 rs4 which I absolutely loved but due to work commitments and a catastrophic engine failure I had to sell. Anyway I would love another rs4 but it would be a daily driver for the wife and a weekend toy for me so just wondering peoples thoughts on the affordability as a daily or would I be much more sensible getting an sq5?

You'd be sensible getting the SQ5.

My B8 is a daily and sense simply isn't allowed into the equation. Or I'll have a heart attack. I reckon I'm spending about £200pm more on fuel than my old B9 S4 Avant. Over £500pm easy. Worst I've had is 200 miles from a tank and best I've had is 300.

But that's weekend fuel too. So, not that bad. I've had 32mpg on daily runs. At about 65mph in cruise. Motorways are boring so I don't speed. Just enjoy the twisty stuff. Ride is fine on the motorway. Comfort is ok. SQ5 would be better I think. Practicality is all there though. Big boot and roomy in the back.

You'd be happier with an RS4. Haha. It just comes down to money/fuel I reckon. You couldn't use the SQ5 as a toy at any point of the week.

Yeah that's the best thing. Get a feel for them. Great to get a long term loaner but hard with used.

Look forward to following your search.

Get both.

The SQ5 is a flying machine with a Tuning box and gearbox flash on it!

Ohhhhh. Did you mean the new one? Same engine as my old B9 S4. Yeah that will be rapid. Thought you meant the diesel.

Yes I mean the diesel. They appear rapid on paper but never been in one. I’m test driving one on Sunday though so that should help me decide I hope.

Not long now before diesels get hammered by tax and pollution controls (diesel free towns, outside schools etc). Especially on the SQ5 I’d expect the price to reflect that.
