Wheels & Tyres Help

Post by Sammyb349 » Sun Sep 09, 2018 7:07 pm

Folks - woke up this morning to find my OSF wheel flat as a pancake. Huge bulge on the inside corner and a wee hole. Tried to repair it so I could drive to the garage but no luck when I put load back on the wheel

I have Bridgestone Potenza S007’s and I like them. But I seem to pick up flats a lot.

Wheels are also no longer in top shape and could do with a refurb (v-spokes) and I was thinking get a new set of tyres all round (Michelin PS4’s unless anyone would recommend something else) and get the wheels refurbed over the winter months.

At the same time I was thinking of getting some winter wheels and tyres anyway with the original tyres now 3.5yrs old (20k miles). I was thinking maybe rotors or RS6 20’s (a la Mikes) - anyone know where I can get some of these new?

What winter tyres should I go for?

Thoughts pls!!

NO, not PS4's! Get PS4S's. Very very different. Available up to 20".

Winter tyres it actually doesn't matter much as long as it's a reputable brand. Consider smaller wheels than summer too.
I have (OK it's a D2 S8 not an RS4) 20" summers with Michelin PS4S's. Winter wheels are 18's with Pirelli Sottozeros.

I've bought PS4S and big improvement (not that it would be difficult) after worn Pirellis which were truly horrible

I have genuine Audi winter wheels and tyres. 19inch rims (18s won't fit). 8J x 19 ET 26   5x112 Part number 8T0601025 AG
Tyre size: 235/40 R 19 96 V

Sadly ride is much better on the 19s. Tyres are Dunlop SP Winter Sports 3D. Paid £900 for a set wheels and tyres new, but think was a bargain

The RS6 20s seem to be in great demand now. They were always like but thought of as being too small for the C7 but with lowering and spacing they look perfect. Add in the mix that they are stronger than the 21s and other Audis are having great success wearing them means they seem to be getting snapped up quickly. Jon_J had a set for sale last week but I think they got sold straight away. New from Audi will cost a fortune. Try looking on ebay.de. Search something like RS6 20 felgen original. This should bring up just the genuine audi wheels.

Thanks guys. Decided to stick with Bridgestones on these wheels (for now). On the new set I will go Michelin’s PS4S

On this wheel though the tyre fitter confirmed my suspicion that the wheel is buckled and needs repairing - thankfully I took the wheel insurance when I bought the car so i’ll Get these over to Lepsons (or Faisal’s place near me) to get them fixed - I of course assume buckled wheels can be?!

God knows what I hit!
