My RS4 sits wonky??
My RS4 sits wonky??
Have owned the car for a couple of months now and to be honest I have never looked at the arch to wheel gap in much detail but I have noticed that the passenger side sits probably 20mm higher than the drivers side. From googling I have come up with the answer that when the car is started and driven it levels itself up etc?? Is this the case??? If the reason is bad then please don't tell me, click the back tab on your browser and say no more about the situation.........
Re: My RS4 sits wonky??
Noticed that about mine but it doesn’t sit on a level surface at my house. Will check in the company car park today

Re: My RS4 sits wonky??
Following, as I sometimes noticed this about mine...but driveway is sloping too and put it down the DRC suspension and due to it not sitting on a level drive. Only had it about 10 weeks, but noticed it once or twice...

Hard to measure but my car is slightly up at the offside rear. Maybe by 1 cm? Front nearside/offside seems level

There is a huge thread on uneven ride height - it was brought up in connection with DRC troubles

Re: My RS4 sits wonky??
Before panic sets in , open the drivers window push the top of the door / roof vigerously side to side and slowly come to a rest ( on an even FLAT surface ) , check gaps from centre of Wheel only, to top of the arch ( apex ) . anything more than 10 mm could be an issue , the agents would say normal up to 12 mm . remember shocks are there to resist movement so generally all cars sit lower on drivers side after driver has got out of the car the shock is trying to hold that side from moving back up . It will move up to apoint but 9 times from 10 it will hold lower .

Re: My RS4 sits wonky??
I hate to give the stock Audi answer but, "they all do that sir!". Everyone I have seen seems to sit lower at the rear right. I had the front shocks replaced on mine and it did exactly the same before and after. Before selling my next step was to fit adjustable KW springs to see if it could be dialled out.
As they all do it, it may well be a characteristic of the DRC system itself. It never seemed to cause an issue.

Re: My RS4 sits wonky??
All standard cars sit uneven 10mm is nothing to worry about as the weight of your car varies above each wheel. If you want all heights equal you need to fit coilovers and have your car professionally corner weighted.
RS4 B7, Mugello Blue, K&W V3 & HR ARBs, set up by Centre Gravity, Milltek Valved Non Res & cat bypass pipes, BMC air filter, braided hoses, DOT 5.1, Terraclean, MRC Full Carbon Clean, MRC remap 448PS 477NM, 20" S7 alloys with 4mm spacers & Hawke spigots 66.6 > 57.1, AP Racing front discs. Sold Sept 2019. Now rocking an F80 M3

Re: My RS4 sits wonky??
Corner weighted is a process term and as part of the process each corner of the cars suspension height is adjusted so that the they are equal ie fronts equal and rears equal eg my E36 M3 I had done recently, refer to Yellow speed heights:

Re: My RS4 sits wonky??
With the earlier issues surrounding knocking or leaking front shockers with DRC, some owners were reporting that when the new shockers had been fitted, the ride height on the side of the replacement shocker was different to the opposite side. You wouldn't have thought it would alter the ride height side to side if a pair had been replaced; maybe it was if just one corner had been replaced.
Your local Audi dealer should be able to go into your cars history and tell you if any warranty work with the suspension has been done on the car and exactly what was replaced.

Re: My RS4 sits wonky??
Mine has always had a slight difference left to right at the rear, usually rear pas side higher. Ranges from 5-25mm depending how its parked. Some time its even....
Just put KW springs on it, have kept the lowering the same each side, so still have the slight mis-match. just had the DRC pressures checked at Audi, 20bar both systems, so all good there.
I suspect its the relatively thin ARB not transferring a lot of load across the axle when static, and letting the DRC do the work while the car is in motion.

Thread resurrection!
Just had a rear DRC pipe replaced and system refilled and re-pressurised.
Noticed today that when sat the rear drivers side is sat lower, prob about 10mm from wheel, others are 20mm perhaps. Not measured.
I am guessing this is "they all do that" territory? Any one got a link to the longer thread?
