New bulb for dipped/main beam required...

Post by Sidicks » Thu Apr 19, 2018 8:30 pm

Started the car this morning and had a bulb error - driver's side dipped/main beam.

I turned the engine off and got out to check, but all seemed fine and when I restarted the car the error went away. However it has now come back.
(see pic below)

So the key questions are:
1) What bulb do I need?
2) Is there an obvious upgrade that I can do to both sides?
3) Is it easy to fit or do i need dealer help?

Anything else I need to think about?!

Thanks

Are these the right ones?

https://www.philips.co.uk/c-m-au/car-li ... FK_CAR_D3S

I want the best performance, so that probably rules out the standard 'vision' bulbs. It seems that the WhiteVision Gen2 are purely about 'style' (as they are extra white/blue) so I think it's the X-treme vision Gen2 that I need. But at £100 each, I want to make sure I get the right ones!

Anyone on here have any experience?

Hi
It might be worth getting the fault checked, a lot of times it is the rectifier and not the bulb at fault.

I bought the Philips gen 2s and am very happy. Power bulbs often do deals

Thanks - what bulb do you need for the cornering lights, it's not mentioned on the Powerbulb website.

Have looked at the strut brace webpage, but not fully committed yet.

Will be trying to fit the new bulbs on Saturday morning - is it relatively easy, assuming some common sense and care? I’ve seen a few online videos which suggest it isn’t too difficult (famous last words...).

Yes fairly easy - getting the plug off the headlights takes a wiggle sometimes and removing the headlight is a slight fiddle. The bolts are fairly obvious

You can change both bulbs on the left hand headlight without Removeing it I think, if you do the right one first you will see how the bulbs fit

After my holiday, finally got around to getting this sorted!

Excellent service by West London Audi, who addressed a couple of other issues at the same time.

Very pleased to have the car back. It's also had a full paint correction at Supercar detailing, so is looking amazing!
