Re-badging a De-badge and is MY important?

Post by Bizzo » Mon Apr 09, 2018 10:18 am

Morning All,
I'm currently considering a "model deletion" car through the Approved network (I've only considered through the network for the protection it SHOULD offer if things go wrong at any time) and i'm wondering if anyone here has had the front grill and boot badges added to a de-badged car?
I'm not keen on de-badging myself, and the dealer i'm talking to have told me it wouldn't be a problem to add them back. Is this the case? It seems it's an option to remove them, so I'm assuming there's more to it than simply sticking them on?
I've also considered a very low mileage car (on the approved site) which ticks all boxes......apart from the fact that it's now over 5 years old. Any thoughts/opinions on buying a 2013 car with low milage compared to a 2014/15 car with higher mileage and less options?
Thanks for any opinions in advance.

Sticking badges on really is just that particularly for the rears as they are adhesive backed and are applied as one. Just important to get the position correct. The front is clipped on.

Personally I would go with an MY14 car as the standard features were improved over the previous MY cars. You should find the differences in the FAQ. Price range for the RS4 seems to be between £30K and £40K depending on age, mileage, features, condition. I've seen a couple of good cars via Fontain in the last couple of months ranging from £34K to £40K.
RS6 PE - Current
RS4 (B8.5) 2015 - Sold
A4 3.0 TDI Quattro BE Avant - Gone
Focus ST170 - Garaged

I did the same and bought a de-badged car.

I went back and forth over re badging or not, a big plus of not having RS4 all over the car is that non-car folks have no idea what you're driving and it attracts less attention. But, i'd always wanted an RS4, and now I have one, so I decided I wanted the badges!

They are both literally stuck on both front and back. Front has a clip that fits into grille too. All internal badges remain even with model deletion (steering wheel/seats/instrument cluster etc) so no issues there.

Replacements are circa £30 each, have the dealer throw them in for free as part of your negotiations.

I'd also echo the above and go MY14 onwards for the same reasons.

Good luck and enjoy!

Those rear arches look really big from that angle. I know some people don't like the fake air vents next to the lights but I quite like them.

Actually those rear vents really remind me of the old Renault 5 Turbo 2.
