How urgent is it?

I want to polish up my rear disc bells and fit RS caliper plates, so could knock out another 'How to Guide'. But that wouldn't be until week after next at the earliest.

Oh not really urgent i recon i will have to change them before summer
but the car was going in for a service asked audi how much for pads front and rear
and to fit the disks o already have and they where wanting near 1200 quid feck that
The fronts i can do no problem did them on my B7
But because of the electronic handbrake trickery i want to make sure i do it right
It would be much appreciated if you can do a write up when your polishing your bells

Don't worry, the purple helmet polish 'How To Guide' is for the Mumsnet forum.

£1200 to supply/fit pads all around and fit a set of rear discs? If that includes an inspection oil service, it'd be about right.

I had front discs and pads (and front wipers ...) done at 28000 miles a couple of years ago for £1197 from a dealer.

£1200 for pads all round and rear discs sounds about right on that basis. Obviously, cheaper would be better ;)

Jeez.

Just checked my last invoice and the local dealership fitted front pads (which I supplied) for £84 +VAT. Pads were purchased from Crewe Audi for £315 inc VAT. Normally I'd have done it myself but as the car was in having brake fluid changed and a service, I thought for £100 it wasn't worth my effort to DIY.

got the car serviced yesterday and deiced after going over the figures again i decied i would change the discs front and rear
but was pleasantly surprised buy this https://audicam.audi.co.uk/customer/750 ... 1b6/406445

so i got them to clean up the rear discs and will wait until the pad ware light comes on before changing the discs
this is a real change from Audi as these same discs 2 MOTs ago i was told by a other tech they needed change as they were close to the wear limit
but i knew better as i had calipered the thickness before i took the car for the mot
a happy customer
Thank you Aberdeen Audi

Interesting/timely post :) , my car's going into Aberdeen Audi for service, brake fluid change and first MOT later this month.

Car's only done 18,000mls (last 9k by me), at last visit 3months ago for warranty work was given advisory about front discs being scored and pads needing changed, quoted about £1100 for supply+fit front disks/pads, will see what comes back this time.

Warranty runs out at end of the month, deliberated about extending but based on £680 quote (all components)/peace of mind will go ahead, could be pretty costly month if disks/pads have to be changed!!

Not sure if its due to downturn in oil industry and it maybe down to specific individuals but sensing bit of a change in attitude from dealer up here, they've just got a v nice Daytona B9 RS4 in the showroom which will be interesting to see up close, not sure on spec/price but that might give a clue if attitudes are changing!!

Rab the Service manager in Abz is top notch, and the service team in General are pretty good.
If you mention the you're part of the local North East Audi Facebook group you'd get a good discount too.
