I’m not criticising your work Sam. But you should have used self amalgamation tape or shrink wrap around the soldered joints. But full marks for the staggered joints and using fabric tape for re-looming.

No problem Eddie.

I didn't really deem it a harsh enough environment to require self amalgamation tape. I also didn't cut the OEM wires (just split the sheath) so couldn't utilise shrink wrap. But valid points if someone wants to go the extra mile.

Unravel wiring harness to expose necessary wires to splice and solder into

Solder connections - Cover your boot floor with an old rug to protect from any solder spilage otherwise it could burn through your carpet.

Connect the Black and Brown first which should power module, then connect Red to the tailgate lock wire as per diagram. Turn the ignition on and press the tailgate unlock button. The module should blink quickly as it takes the signal. Now turn the ignition off and connect up remaining wires, except the orange which should be isolated. Use good quality electrical tape to wrap solder joints.

Re-wrap wiring harness using fabric tape - Tesa manufacture some.

Re-assemble trim panel and locate BexPro module - I stuck it inside the offside rear light access hole, using a cut down double sided padded number plate Sticker.

Hi. Was thinking doing something like this but before ordering bexpo tailgate module thought maybe should give a try with arduino... can someone know pinout of tailgate switch? download/file.php?id=44717&mode=view as in understand there is no canbus H or L thats why it's impossible to do this with VCDS? so why 4 wires?

As I’m wanting to load my car up with options I think I will be going for this mod. Relatively cheap but worth it in my opinion when other leading prestige brands do this as standard. Time to get looking at local garages to do the work for me
