Traction

Coming from an a5 Quattro 3.0tdi to the rs, I was expecting things like traction issues and generally a car which was more of a handful. However, quite the opposite! Even on launch on a wet road, the rs doesn't even flicker a traction light, or even twitch like the a5 did?! Is this just a superior Quattro, or more complex traction system? It is the same with the brakes too, stopping control is way better on the rs, with hardly any abs assistance! I am running Bridgestone summer tyres too before anyone thinks it's a tyre thing.

Best car by far in the snow too! We live on a steep hill 20cm of snow, no gritters and the rs is now a legend of the estate!

Was the A5 a haldex 4WD system?

I reckon that it's the Sport Differential that you are noticing the most. That was one of the largest improvements which I noticed coming from the previous generation RS4.

Bigger brakes and the DRC suspension will also help all that braking power too.

The 3.0 TDI Quattro has more torque than the RS4 (500 Nm) so that may well play a part in the difference between the two. I also came from the same engine to the RS4 and the difference in torque is noticeable, however in terms of putting the power down, tyres and setup are crucial so that may also play a part.

Now you ask, I'm not sure. It used to be tail happy pulling out of junctions in the wet and had the Quattro badges on it?

Pretty sure the A5 has a longitudinal engine so will be torsion diff and no haldex. So permanent 4wd.
