Looking around at b8,s at the mo what’s the must have options on these it’s quite confusing

Pers pref to some degree but - 'essential' when I was searching:

Panoramic Sunroof,
Sport Pack (with quattro Diff and Sport Exhaust, 20" V Spoke Alloys),
Assistance Pack comprising Adaptive Cruise Control etc.
Convenience Pack (Electric Seats, Mirrors)
Advanced Parking with Camera,
Bang and Olufsen Sound System,
DAB,
Heated Front Seats
Personally, also the Black Styling Pack is essential - there's no colour which works with the Alu. Alu is borderline 'council'.

Debatable:

Advanced Key with Keyless Entry and start,

Some of the above may be standard and some may in packs - my B8 memories are fading.

The higher the spec the better I think

I made the mistake of almost keeping a car without B&O. 9 out of 10 of the early models had it before it became standard

Leather would be mandatory for me too

I have the Advanced key and wouldn't be without it. Makes the car less secure but I have a tracker

My must haves were Pano roof, sports exhaust, adaptive cruise

It's all subjective to one’s taste and there will always be an element of compromise when buying used. One thing to remember is that the better the spec, the better the car will age, as features that were once optional eventually get included into more modern run of the mill cars. So I'd say:

Must haves:

• MY14 onwards - Gains power tailgate and DAB
  Full Leather
  Sports Pack - 20" Alloys, Sports exhaust, DRC etc.
  Bang and Olufsen
  Panoramic Sunroof
  Hill Hold Assist
  Carbon inlays
  Audi FSH & Warranty

Strongly consider looking for

• Driver Assistance Pack - Adaptive Cruise Control, High beam assist, Rear parking camera, lane assist etc.
  Advanced Key - Keyless entry
  Convenience Package - Memory seats and mirrors
  Heated Seats

Brilliant thanks doesn’t help when some owners list things wrong when selling

2012 sepang with 44k miles if of interest

I would consider my car a must have standard
Sports pack ( Dynamic steering , Suspension , Sports exhaust)
Bucket Seats (make you feel more connected with the car IMO)
B&O
Connectivity High (on the Pre 14 models this was a pain as the data sim when inserted pushed phone off the hands free this was sorted in later 14 + models )
Heated Seats front & rear ( i do like to keep my passengers happy and worm)
and Black pack ( i found on my B7 the alu trim started to go milky so that's the reason i went for the black pack which does look good with most colours)
Hill Hold Assist ( a great feature with the auto box)
im not a fan of all the driver assist stuff more to go wrong and correcting the car on it own for me is a scary prospect)
the sun roof is not a real requirement IMO i had this on both my previous RS4 and maybe used them 3 or 4 time in my life with the cars
Alloys i would sat the rotors have a better deep dish look vs the V spokes but that's a personal choice
Keyless entry not a fan i would never feel happy that the car was lock i prefer a point and click with the fob

For me, again personal choice, this would tick enough of the boxes. Big caveat - overpriced and Sytner. But has my spec:

Window tints, b&o, sports exhaust. If I had the option now, skip drc one less thing to worry about. Carbon interior, black pack. Sat nav

My two pence worth on spec, it is hugely owner dependent though


Sports pack - Agreed
Bucket Seats - Don't like them on long journeys and they (IMHO) show wear quicker on the bolsters. Whilst you can argue you feel more connected in reality I don't need to going to Tesco.
B&O - Agreed
Connectivity High - IMHO a waste of money. I dont need 3D maps, google, the weather etc and I can program a sat nav in the car on the odd occasion I need it. I generally can remember where I parked it and don't need any more pointless apps on my phone to tell me! We had it on a previous S5 and very quickly stopped paying for an extra data sim.
Heated Seats front & rear - No view either way,nice but not a deal breaker.
Black pack - Depends on the colour of the car but more align with black than silver
Hill Hold Assist - Agreed
Pan Roof - Everyone says it's a must have. I have one but not bothered either way.
Alloys - Such a personal choice and easily changed
Keyless entry - Specifically didn't want it for security reasons
Inlays - Not bothered if carbon or alloy. Depends on owner
