So,
MOT today, due on the 19th but always like to do it a bit early on the first one. At just over 30k she has been faultless so far but now the warranty extension question has come up. Not expecting anything to fail on the MOT and now using a local independent for servicing (Quattro Tech) who follows Audi plan and updates online.
Whats the groups general thought about warranty extension via Audi? Looking at around £600 for named cover or £888 for everything. Having a hard job convincing the wife as she has been faultless so far. As ever though, I know it will be expensive if something breaks.

Re: MOT, warranty and all things RS
How co operative are Audi likely to be in honouring an Audi warranty if its serviced elsewhere? I dont know the answer just curious. Ive just paid for my warranty extension as I thought the £700 "saving" of no warranty would disappear in a heartbeat if anything did go wrong. Having said that after 18 months of second hand RS4 ownership nothing has gone awry yet.....

Re: MOT, warranty and all things RS
Just had my 1st MOT, done it a month early as my specialist went over the car with a fine tooth comb to highllight any issues, especially if they were potential warranty jobs. He found some oil on the front shocks, had Audi check them and they are within tollerance and not leaking.
Car went through MOT wihtout any issues apart from:
Low tread on rear tyres - wear and tear, no issues and not illegal yet, I change tyres at 2mm anyway.
Chip in wndcreen in drivers view, it was so small I didn't even notice it, when its time my insurance will caover that for £75
Rear brake pads low, seeing as the car has done almost 53k miles on this set I can't complain, they'll get done before winter.
I am not taking out the extended warrnaty, never had done on any of my cars.
Audi checked it over when checking shocks and they couldn't find anythin other than what I told them about.
Did find out one thing, Pan roofs need a service, when looking on the system all Audi's with sunroofs have listed for this service, all RS4's with Pan roofs have this lsited as a service item, mine does not list it when checking my chassis number, I told Audi they should have noticed last time as it was due at around 38k miles, they are doiugn this free at the next makor service which I am going to include the plug service too, bring that forward leave the major serivce a little longer and have them all done together along with the roof service which will be FOC.
Alo had the brake fluid flushed and repalced 1st one is 3yrs, every 2yrs after hat. Didn;t have Audi do it as they do it manually and I wanted it doign by a proper machine, 3rd of the price and a better job, less likely of any problems.
So that me after 3 yrs of ownershipe:
post dleiver insepction (1500 miles)
1st service + 1 DRC shcok (warranty) ( pre18000 miles)
Front pads + new engine undertray (pre 22000 miles)
Fluid serivice + 4 tyres (Sunfroof serivce missed) (pre 38000 miles)
1st MOT (approx. 52000 miles)
Brake fluid flush (3 yrs)
I haven't had any other issues (touch wood)

Re: MOT, warranty and all things RS
Geoff, slightly less mileage at 30k but very similar. Replaced front pads and flushed fluid at my independent, I will take note of the roof service though but a few miles to go before due.
LotusPhil, the independent I use (Quattro Tech) updates the Audi system online and uses Audi parts, my last service was showing on the computer when I was at the dealer. He mentioned that the brake fluid was due and then saw that it had been done so I am not expecting warranty claim issues if needed (well no more than the usual faff).
The dealer Master Tech that did the MOT was very complimentary of the condition though and said he couldn't find anything either wrong or to advise which is rare.
Now, do i pay for the warranty extension?
