B8 RS4 DRC module/sensor fault

Post by cblack32 » Wed Aug 16, 2017 2:59 pm

Hi guys,

I have a 2014 RS4 and a few weeks ago I had a suspension fault warning light come on which seems to be intermittent as sometimes it only comes on after 10-15 mins of driving and sometimes doesn't flash up at all.

I haven't had the chance to take it to Audi as they can't fit me in for a while but I have had it scanned by a VAG specialist today and gives the code 02646. ODIS said to check wiring on the module itself, which seems to be fine with no corrosion or dampness around there at all either, as well check the sensors on the shocks which I haven't managed to do yet.

Just wondering if anybody's had a this issue at all or if anyone could point me in the right direction of things to start checking. Also, is it ok to drive with this intermittent fault? I have also attached a copy of the extended fault code report

Any help/advice is appreciated and hopefully I can get I sorted before I leave for the ring next Saturday!

Thanks

Was the warning light a picture of a shock absorder?

Mine came up with this in start up twice but disappeared very quickly. Had it checked by 2 different audi stealers, both reported no faults.

I had mine parked up for a while with the battery conditioner connected on and off so it could have been a fault thrown up due to electrical surges triggering sensors. This is just a theory and no proof whatsoever. I've since been driving it alot more and the light hasnt appeared since.

Hi, I know it is a long time ago but did you ever find the cause of your intermittent suspension warning light. I have just returned from France where mine started to do exactly the same thing. I thought it was a heat problem but as it is intermittent it appears that is not the case. What it appears to do is stop the changes in suspension taking place when you move from comfort to dynamic for instance. Yesterday it was ok most of the day but the day before it was the other way round. I am looking to get it checked but any prior knowledge regarding likely cause would be good.
Cheers.

Any update on this issue? My RS5 is throwing the same 02646 code

I have had this intermittent fault showing on my B8 RS4 for the last two years (fault code 02646). Only seemed to show if it had rained a lot and I changed settings whilst driving, i.e comfort to dynamic. It's strangely stopped happening when I had all my tyres replaced last year. It has now started showing again in the last week, no idea if thats just coincidental.
I have a suspicion that one of the sensors is fubar.

Any update on solution for the intermittent “Code 02646 - Plausibility of Level Control System” fault … was it a sensor on the B8 RS4 and was there a result on the RS5 ?

That fault is related to the solenoid within one of the shock absorbers, there is a test plan to run on odis that will narrow down what one is nackered!

Is it just ODIS that can identify which of the sensors the faulty sensor is or can VDCS do it too ?

Just odis, its a test plan you have to run that checks the response rates of all the shocks.

Thanks Fabiogray ... just thinking, could Fault 02646 be due to a poor/deteriorated connection in one of the shock electrical connection muliplugs rather than a defective and/or sticky solenoid within the shock ?
