New RS5 looks good in Black, but is way too expensive with options, to the point where it's silly.
The one I've got this weekend has the following spec

Misano
Carbon everywhere
Ceramics
20"s
Massaging seats
And a fair bit more...£86k all in
Currently :
2019 Porsche 992S (£21k of extra toys)
2019 Porsche Macan S (£18k of extra toys)
2015 Lotus Exige V6 ( c430bhp)
2019 Seat Ibiza excellence Lux! (115bhp, 3 cyl, dsg)
1987 Porsche 928S4
1967 Jaaag Mk2 3.4

Ex
2017 AMG E class wagon
2012 Audi RS4 (B8)
2012 Porsche Boxster S (981)

That's ridiculous, even with the inevitable discounts.

In Audi today and was told that they have had scant info on new RS4. Sure they would have known if it was to be unveiled at Frankfurt??
If it looks as in your face as new RS5 I think I'll pass!
Any one else think it looks like a mustang???

Good call, there's something Mustang like in the nose. The styling has gone to pot across the range. I give you the Q2. WTF is that about?

I spoke to the RS big wig at West London Audi and he's been told it's launching at Frankfurt. He could be having my eyes out though!

Dissapointed with Audi RS offerings

Post by doodlebug » Sat Sep 09, 2017 8:07 pm

Dealers don't have a clue, Audi UK have a little bit of a clue, but that's still at the bottom dweller end of the scale.

I'll be suprised if we see it at Frankfurt but i remain hopeful.

It will be a huge tech story for audi revolving around the a8. They are also playing catchup big time with a b9 version of the 330e and c350e.

When's the c8 due? If the RS6 is a V8 that would be worth buying. I still stick with my view that the 6 is too big to properly enjoy on a lot of roads though. The 4 was the sweet spot for me that opened up proper daily duties as well as weekend fun.

I personally think I'm out of RS stuff now, regulations and dieselgate has destroyed it all. It's just a cash cow operation now rather than a brand building exercise. They literally are just taking as many base models as possible, changing very little in terms of performance, tech, looks or emotion and then sticking badges on and charging ridiculous money. I mean and RSQ3 wtf is all that about!

I just had to build an RS5 on the configurator again for my own sanity.

£79,715 for the same spec as my B8.5 RS4. I can't see anything new other than virtual cockpit, apps on the screen and a massage function on the lumber support.

Thats base + 20's, pearl paint, black pack, memory seats and mirrors, sports suspension, steering and exhaust, B&O, advanved key, rear camera, heated seats, adaptive lights, hill hold and pan roof.

The ads say 'nothing to prove' and how tech it is. I'm not so sure. You still have to pay for folding mirrors on a £70k base car so the base figure is false, it's £75k once you add on the stuff tou get included on an 18k SEAT leon

I did the same when trying to decide on the 5 or 6.

Once I had specced the rs5 and rs6 to how I wanted it and then looked at price taking into discount and contribution there wasn't much in it but you are getting more car I think for your money with an rs6 than a 5, albeit older platform and tech.

Tax is the same and running costs don't appear on paper at least to be much different.

I had a drive in the new rs3 yesterday hence my visit to the dealers.
I really enjoyed it and to me it felt better (to drive) than my b8 rs4.
The tech is obviously much better and I like the virtual cockpit. I felt much more connected with the car when driving. ( maybe because it's smaller? )
In dynamic it wasn't as hard as the b8 and I think you could leave it like that for daily use.
It's fast and the power comes on tap instantly.
Sounds good but not as good as the V8. Sounds better than the Alfa Quadrifoglio though!
Spec'ed up it came to £54k. £10k down and £650 a month. GFV @ £25,765. 3 year deal.
No discount but they put in £500 deposit contribution as a customer loyalty bonus. ( so £10.5k deposit )
I paid £58k (new) for the b8 about 2 and a half years ago but it was end of the model run so got about an £8k discount on list at the time.
Alfa is about £60k with extras and discount. Monthly cost about the same as finance rate much lower. Residual however is about £20k.......
Just have to decide which one now!

No discount, a residual loss of 52%, and a total spend of £32,750 you'll never see again... all to drive around in an A3 saloon for 3 years, are you mad...?!?

The TTRS and RS3 are just 'trim' models made on the same line as every other car, they just apply a "RS" formula from elsewhere - like trims/seat patterns etc. The RS division puts the minimal amount of effort and development in to these cars/platform, in comaprison to the 4/5/6 etc.
'15 B8 RS4 - SOLD

Totally with you. It's all about minimal changes and maximum margins at the mo to try and sort out dieselgate. The 4 and 5 are watered down and had a huge price jump, lets see about the C8 rs6. These cars were epic when they were about setting the direction of the brand without compromise rather than bolstering the bottom line via fan bois. I mean an RSQ3 - WTF is all that about!
