I'm certainly sticking to OEM, better engineered than most and weight saving of 4kg unsprung weight with the wavy disks.

Not too worried about weight, I have a 4.2 sitting in the nose and heavy 20" rims. Just wondering if audi's monopoly on discs was coming to an end?

Its unsprung weight so makes a big deference. I'm not sure about a monopoly on the discs though, Pagid make them along with the pads, never looked into what you can get from them direct.

Is that 1kg per corner? I'm sure that makes little difference otherwise an standard a4 with 17"s and tiny discs would feel better.

Yes, 1 kg per corner of reduced unsprung weight.
