Pistonheads RS5 review
Pistonheads RS5 review
Just read this and doesn't sound overly positive. The M3s and 4s have been around for a few years now yet this seems to be rated just below it. I had a 2011 RS5 and then went to a 2015 RS4 which was is so much sharper than a 5 so maybe it will all work better in the new RS4. Visually the 4 has always looked more aggressive than the 5 too so again maybe it will be okay. For me it will be the loss of the V8 and having driven the V6s in the F type and the M4 I just prefer the character of the V8!

Re: Pistonheads RS5 review
I'm just about ready to trade my 2015 RS4 in and am hanging out for the B9 RS4, I should have ordered an RS6 last year but thought I'd wait, if it doesn't come soon I'll probably be going M5. My only concern with the RS4/5 is the gearbox, I am going to miss DSG (S-tronic).

Sounds awful tbh. This in particular
The first minor imperfection will have you convinced that the drive select has been left in one of its more aggressive settings, only to discover it's set to Comfort. The ride really is brutal, punishing at points and with little need to use the Dynamic mode beyond confirming just how uncomfortable it is. Weirdly there's an element of float to the ride too, the body not regaining control as quickly as you would hope given the resolute stiffness
Ride in my Audi's have got progressively worse. This write up totally puts me off one. I do hope but doubt the RS4 will be any better
I like well built well specified cars that are great to drive. Audi seems to be heading in the wrong direction. A few, in another thread, have jumped from Audi to Porsche and my experience of the latter is they are far better to drive
Has anybody sampled the new S4?

Re: Pistonheads RS5 review
Watch the video reviews on YouTube, there are tins of them. The common theme is, car is not as sharp as the competition, but a far more comfortable cruiser.
I think from the vids i have watched, the reaction seems pretty positive, less the normal audi criticisms, e.g. Dull steering and crashy ride...

Re: Pistonheads RS5 review
I've had a 997 C4S back in 2009 and it was brilliant. So wished Id kept it, does everything (apart from carrying people and bikes) perfectly.
I just have a hankering for the Ftype R AWD. I know they aren't quite as good as the 991's but the looks and the V8!!

Re: Pistonheads RS5 review
I drove very briefly an F-Type at the F Pace launch and was more impressed with the F Type than I expected to be.
I'd still have a 911 instead. Or a 981 Cayman with a 'proper' engine
Lots of votes for Porsche here lol

Re: Pistonheads RS5 review
Worth remembering that the the B8 RS4 didn't get super great reviews to start with either
Most of the journo's just want a car they can drift in, or go at 100% all the them in, when in reality, the RS4 is mainly aimed at people like me (us) that use the car day to day and want something that works well, and can be thrashed every now and then.
If I wanted a car that was quick around the track, or gave me feedback on every single section of road, I'd buy a radical or caterham
My dealer has a demo coming in soon, and they've said I can borrow it for a few days, so I guess that'll be what the next RS4 drives like, so I'll make my own mind up
