Tyre questions

Post by 114uyc » Mon May 15, 2017 1:19 pm

At what depth do you replace your tyres?

I have Pirelli's with the front at appox 6mm and rear's at appox 3mm, feel I should go over to Bridgestone or Continental, would it be "ok" leaving the Pirelli's on the front or replace all four?

What's the spare like and does it match any of those? Or don't you have one?

I always match front and rear axles on a performance car for balance and predictability

No spare, just a can of filler and pump

I rotate front and back to even/ maximise life...then i replace all 4 at once.

On tyre brand...go with the Michelin PS4S...they are the best, its a performance car, so dont scrimp on tyres. To be fair, most are better than the pirelli's in my opinion, but I certainly stich to Michelin.

And up to you in depth, i like to get all the use from them, but performance drops significantly the less tread there is...so as above, not scrimping on rubber would say go earlier!

Same here, but it's MPS4S that replaces MPSS and which is VERY different to the standard MPS4. Just got my new MPS4S's on in the winter/summer rotation.

MPS4S has two different rubber compounds, very clever technology.

I am loving the pilot sport 4s - big improvement over the pirellis the car came with.
