Front brake discs and pads replacement

Just picked my car from its 22,000 mile service to be told i need to spend £1211 on supply & fit of a new set. Pads are 90% worn and discs are scored. Has anyone got suggestions for getting genuine oem parts elsewhere cheaper? I cant seem to find the discs anywhere. Am i going to have to bend over and take a stiff one from Mr Audi Dealer?

Try TPS (the parts specialist) all VAG parts. Discs should last a bit longer than this? I've found red or yellow stuff pads to be v.good

Discs for 450GBP.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-RS3-RSQ3 ... 2498893927

Pads are circa 150gbp (remember you need two sets as 4 ads per caliper). If you get aftermarket sport pads expect to pay 350ish for pads. Simplest thing in the world to fit yourself. If you can take a wheel off, you can fit discs and pads essentially.

Save yourself several hundred :)

I asked if those discs on ebay were correct for my car and the seller replied that If I use the correct spacers they should be fine.........doesnt sound like they are the correct ones for the car if you need to use spacers does It?

I would first caliper the disk thickness first as Audi tried it on with me saying the disk front and rear needed changing

I had just change to my summer tyres and calipered the disks and had more than half the thickness left before they reached minimum
the pads were replaced and then disks cleaned up
That was last year and checking again this year when changing over the wheels I still have just over 1mm before the disks are done

So I would check them fist before shelling out for disks and pad

Thanks for the advice. Visually they have a slight lip on outside edge and some shallow scoring. I will let a local brakes specialist look at them with a view to skimming them.

I purchased OEM Discs and pads from Crewe Audi (they have an ebay Shop) and paid £550 for the front discs (Cant remember what the pads were). If you are thinking getting them fitted by an Audi dealer be aware that they are refusing to fit parts not supplied by themselves. I had a big argument with the call centre and then with the dealer saying that they were OEM parts supplied by an another Audi dealer and the only reason I didn't get the parts from them was because they were £200 more expensive. I eventually got a service guy to confirm that if I had an invoice and that they were OEM parts they would fit them. Incidentally I approached Zentrum who are Porsche independent specialists and they said the same.

I will give them a call and see what they can offer. But one on eBay....might be Crewe are listing £120 delivery which is madness. I have a mechanic friend who will fit them for me.

It is Crewe. Depending on how urgent you need them, I'll be taking my car there in 6 weeks or so. You could come to a deal to buy them, I'll pick em up and post at cost if needed.
