As the title suggests, I've just got my first B8 RS4

It's known to the forum, it's Wills old car so most of you will probably have seen it on here before.

Obeying Rule #1 here are a couple of pics I took the other week, the car is dirty, but I've not taken any when it's clean yet!! I only took these cuz the sun made the car look purple...

As you might know it sits on KW coilovers and has had the geometry set-up by centre of gravity, who have done a great job. It's got a milly (non-res)....

My jobs to do in this order are;

1 - Michelin PSS
2 - Full service
3 - Carbon Clean (MRC)
4 - Remap (MRC)
5 - Donnington Track Day (Booked) !!

Other than that, she is good to go

Big thanks to Will who has done a great job of looking after the car. I promise the next pics will be of a clean car!!

Welcome along. It'll be interesting to see if there is any carbon in there. I had the boroscope down there and a dyno at 30k with nothing visable and 437bhp.

I wouldn't bother with a remap or carbon clean tbh

What makes you think it needs a carbon clean? B8's don't deem to be affected like the B7.

be interesting to see if any carbon issues. I've done 100,000 kms (in Oz - so 60,000 miles) and not sure if I need a carbon clean as a lot have been relaxed work miles where I've been emulating "Driving Miss Daisy". But I did notice a marked improvement at last service when filter, plugs etc etc were renewed.

I'm not sure if it needs a carbon clean or not. I don't think there is much buildup in there as it pulls smoothly and is very strong. However, unless Audi have reworked the breathing on the intake it must suffer in the same way as my old B7 did.

With my old B7, I had it done once (which it needed) and then due to my driving style it wasn't an issue after that.

So, as I've just got the car I figure get it cleaned and then thats it!! TBH I will speak to MRC and see what they suggest. It maybe that we put it on the rolling road and see how it performs to make an assessment and then take it from there.

I do however want the car to perform to it's best so if it needs a clean, then I consider it a bit like routine maintenance with these engines.

Im not a mechanical engineer or anything, bit with a normally aspirated engine, I'm working on the basis that the best and brightest at Audi have already wrung as much as they can safely out of the "tune" and that any more will bring very small returns (at best, 5%) or at worse, screw things up.

Turbo, sure, go for it..NA? Wouldn't bother.

It's a totally different engine to the B7 with twin intakes, different inlet manifold design and the EGR is not an issue anymore.

@S4WON - you are right in some respects, tuning a NA does not yield anywhere near the same results as a forced induction engine which is a shame.... I'll let you all know how I get on and what gains I get for my bucks and then you can make up your own minds if it's worth it.... for me it's worth a punt ... but if I only get 10hp I'll be disappointed.....

A remap can make sense with a few breathing mods. Also a remap on the box can change the feel of it a fair bit.

Easiest bang for your buck would be downpipes as they are <beep>.

I've got a full non res milltek ....... I think the cats are still in place though (hopefully - mot in a couple of weeks).

I was going to ask about the box remap along with the engine remap as I believe they can be tuned in a complimentary manner?

I need to give MRC a call and get it booked in ..... I did send an e-mail but they haven't replied, suppose they get thousands of time-wasters over e-mail and not enough hours to respond so I'll not hold that against them!

NOT a chance .... it's a great car!

After I picked it up I spent the whole weekend clearing out the garage... LOL... it's the first car to go in there since we moved in!!

I felt bad about the pics yesterday (bit dirty) so here is a couple from this morning (crappy iphone).....

Yea you won't get the cats off without new headers and the engine out. They are resonators on the downpipes.
