Hi all,

Can anyone advise how many keys you should have coded to the car? I have three but only have two keys.

You should have 3 keys. 2 remotes and a plastic service key which fits into the remote blank in the left hand side of your glove box.

I have 2 remote keys and service key as it came for the factory and 3 show in MMI.

Remove service key body from glove box and put in a safe place, ideally with the plastic key insert, do not leave it in the car.

The wallet key is the third, when my gearbox was replaced they had to recode all three to the car again.

My MMI showed 3 keys however the plastic holder is empty (no key) so i had audi remove all the keys and re-add just the 2 i have for security.

The Emergency key (plastic key) is in 2 parts, the body which sits on the glove box and the blade (plastic) which is with the cars paperwork.

They should have explained what it's for, this happens so often whereby even the dealers don't what Audi have designed.

Wrong, only the key part B needs to be kept out of the cat as it has the immobiliser chip.

The other piece is just an adapter to fit the dash.
