Re: Help with DRC please
Finally had my front shockers replaced after what feels like an eternity of nagging the service team in the audi garage. Car feels totally different now a lot better. Still unhappy about the unwillingness of audi to do anything about is sooner but glad it's finally fixed
Re: Help with DRC please
Mine went in today and guess what???? The tool that de-gasses the system has a leak so they have got to order a new one in as there isn't one local they can borrow......other probs include sunroof, clicking to passenger front wheel when turning corner, fan belt tensioner replacement, gear box update or oil change before it's needed (sure that'll do it Audi) and well....the service girl should be in the army...you know the "stand by your bed types" big boobs and big authority complex, oh well at least the car is getting fixed under warranty....happiesh days!bigbaz1974 wrote:Finally had my front shockers replaced after what feels like an eternity of nagging the service team in the audi garage. It's actually starting to worry me come October when the warranty runs what to do. I'm not sure if audi extend warranties??

Re: Help with DRC please
I put up with the knocking until a few months before the warranty ran out and then took it in.
First time they insisted on re-pressurising them. Made no difference, so it's in next week (a month out of warranty) for new front shocks.

Re: Help with DRC please
If my experience is anything to go by Andy they might dig their heels in. There is a TPI which I was aware of and mentioned to them about upgraded shocks. I got the whole knocking noise is normal thing. But then again if you have a good dealer shouldn't be any problem
Re: Help with DRC please
Is the TPI available anywhere or could someone send me a copy please. My 63 plate RS4 has had this same knocking noise since I bought the car privately a year ago but I am still under warranty until September so will try and get Bolton Audi to sort this at my next service in a couple of weeks.
Thanks
Phil

Re: Help with DRC please
I have a copy of it which I got when mine was done, and I have sent it out to several members with DRC issues, including BigBaz1974! PM me your email address and I will send it to you.LotusPhil wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2017 11:08 pmIs the TPI available anywhere or could someone send me a copy please. Re: Help with DRC please
I think I might need some help with the TPI as well, Car is 15 plate with 29K on the clock, it was in about two months ago as the suspension was knocking and I was told there was a leak this was repaired under warranty. It just been for its second service and needs new discs and pads on the front and new discs on the back despite the wear on the pads only being 30%. So on top of the service bill I now have a bill for £2,200. The other item is a leaking shock which has been quoted as another £500 and not under warranty in accordance to the call centre I booked the car into the dealer with, so I need to be armed when I take the car in. I don't understand how one leak was covered and this one isn't?
Re: Help with DRC please
The TPI only covers 'knockng', usually experienced from the front offside over minor surface undulations. Other defects such as leaks are a seperate warranty issue - leaks will actually cause the knocking noise. Knocking shockers caused by leaks will only be replaced by the standard shocker; knocking shocks with no other cause, will get the uprated shockers as a replacement.
Was the leak that you had repaired under warranty actually from a shocker or from elsewhere i.e pipe work etc?
The knocking you experienced will probably been as a result of low pressure caused by the leak. Having said that if the system is run for a prolonged period with low pressure, then this can cause other damage to DRC components.
If there is a slight oil leak on a shocker resulting in a light 'misting' of oil, then Audi say this is acceptable, as would a reasonable MOT man, but if it is a wet oily leak, then it is faulty and should be covered under warranty, but then you only get a standard shocker as a replacement if there is no knocking.
People in the call centres sometimes are pretty clueless, from my experiences. I regularly got phone calls in June when I had my B7 saying my MOT was due, when it didn't expire until September........
I would be tempted to personally visit a different Audi dealership and speak to them direct, rather than over the phone or via a call centre. You would be surprised on different dealerships take on issues such as this.
Be firm but polite - if they are suggesting the shocker should be replaced, then they are saying it is a proper leak, rather than their description about 'misting', so it should be replaced under warranty - there should be no arguments!
