What are people looking at next?

So the B8 RS4 was my first real performance car and I'm looking at why to do next...as I'm sure a lot of the longer term owners on here are too...

I'm not over enamoured by the styling on the B9 4 or 5, so pretty much writing that off. Have driven the m4 on roads and finding like the package. Have driven the c63 on track and loved it, apart from the looks...so they're both out...so my thinking has turned to everything else...

I've driven the r8 v10 plus on a track and the 911 4s targa on a closed runway, and both were stunning! But both cost upward of 120k on their spec!

I've spotted the v10 r8 is now available under 100k, so that's properly tempting. The same for merc gt/GTA and the new 911 GTS looks decent too.

I think the next one will come from that group, probably 18 months away, so plenty time to change my mind...what are others thinking about? And those that have moved, what did you get and are there any regrets?

I'm waiting for the Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio estate version.

They are all so different cars uve listed. Although all good in their own way.
Personally I have the b8 as it's an estate car as I have a little one on the way. The rs4 b8 is my family car.... Cough. All she said was get an estate and loose the sports car. She didn't say anything else. So got away with it!

Personally I'm going back to 2 seats again when she trades her little hatch back in at some point for a evoque probably or when little one doesn't need so much gear.
So either lambo Gallardo e drive or r8 v10 tronic. If I can get that passed her indoors.

Mercedes Cla45 "shooting brake" is also a really nice car. Even though a stupid name....

I tried one. Not estate. Bloody terrible car. The interior looks ace in pics but is woeful in reality.

Interesting thread.

For us the RS4 is the "main" car and my wife's daily driver. A two seater is out as we sometimes have the dogs in the car and it has to be big enough for trips to Germany and France with a full boot.

It is certainly going to be difficult to decide what to get!

My car is 3 years old in May, but it looks like I'll be keeping it for a bit longer as I just can't find anything to replace it..

New S4/5 are just not 'special' enough. New RS4 not out until back of the year/early next year, but do I really want another one?

For me, 4x4 is a must, so that rules out BMW M3, and Mercedes C63.

I drove a Mercedes E43 4matic the other day which was very nice, and just about on par with the RS4 performance wise, but at £68,000 with all the options, felt expensive for what it was, and again just not quite special enough.

At the moment I'm waiting on prices to become available for the new Mercedes E63s, which looks nice. Switchable 4x4 and drift mode!
But it'll be on the wrong side of £90k with options, so might be too much of a stretch...

First world problems. :)

First word problems indeed! Ha

I'm used to the merc interiors just now (company car is a c350e) and it's a nice interior, but that ta not my thing. I prefer the b8! But maybe I'm just more used to it.

I think a lot depends on what she says for me too! She's angling for a Q7 strong for the next company car, and if that's on, then the r8 could well be on the cards. However, it's more likely to be a golf get or another merc. Unless Audi move forward on some more phev's.

I dont see where the cla 45 fits in here? It's an aclass sized car or an a3 so the rs3... not for me. The rs3 and a45's sound good, but they are wee boys cars to me. It needs to be something special!

This is the only car that i would consider as next. B8 would of course stay in the garage but Merc would be a great car to rumble

B9 RS4 was my intent but still no dates or pictures. Wife just cancelled her SQ7 order as its been delayed again.

Rs6 is another choice for me, wife is off to BMW at the weekend to find an X5 M50d.

Had an R8 for a weekend, great car, couldn't live with it as not enough room so I am still unsure. I was hoping to order now but can;t as the RS4 has no details.

B9 RS4 was always the plan, but it's non-existent due to the major delays surrounding the emissions scandal and type approval for air-con etc. C63 RWD only, no BMW M estates, E63 not out for a while. RS6 great, but a depreciation nightmare and its dated inside. SQ7 is nice, but to get one to a decent spec it becomes more expensive than a Range Rover, and then residually worse than an RS6 (which is quite something!).

So I put my money into a lightly used Range Rover Sport which I will keep for a year and/or so until there's something out there worth buying. It's bomb proof for residuals, all the toys are standard in the 'Autobiography Dynamic' spec I bought, really practical for kids, dog etc, and it's got a good bit of torque poke. It's really surprised me so far as to how good it is.

I went with this.
Wife can have the big car. 5 year old fits in the back perfectly for short trips.
Loved the RS4 but got fed up with the 6 year old tech.

Now that i like (especially as you've not taken the sports exhaust!)...I'm still on the fence with Porsche though.

I saw an AMG GTS in London on the way home last night, and that car has some presence! I'm very tempted by it. it's a sports car though, where as the R8 is a supercar for the same money...at least in my head it is...it's why i've written off the F-Type Jag too...but I may revisit them all!

still about 12 months to go though, so plenty time!

The AMG and the R8 aren't the same money. R8 is 150k, the merc 30-40k less.

That rear wiper gives me a twitch, buggers up the symmetry.
