Folding mirrors on locking

Does anybody know (better if you've done it) if it is just coding to have the mirrors fold when the car is locked?
This would be with a car WITH power fold mirrors and WITHOUT memory seats
In the same setup is it also only coding to have the near side mirror adjust when reversing?
I'm still on the hunt for an ideal spec B8 and whilst I could compromise on not having memory seats I would miss folding door mirrors and the reverse assist function that my last S4 had
And if anybody has a B8 for sale with keyless entry, pan roof and adaptive cruise I'd be very interested to hear from you
Thanks
Richard

Folding mirrors should still fold when locking, needs configuring on mmi, this is only if you have the fold mirror option,
Mine has the fold mirrors without seat memory

Hi,
Just wanted to add a question as it's along the same theme. My 2014 RS4 doesn't have folding mirrors and it's the one thing I might miss from the S5. Easy to retrofit?

When I picked my car up, the mirrors folded when the engine was switched off. Being a bloke I a) haven't read the manual and b) fiddled with everything blindly...
So could it just be a setting? Like the leaving the mirror dial on the left mirror dips the left mirror when in reverse type thing?

No, they don't appear to be specced, no setting on the switch for folding.

Thanks RS4 spark
ACPRC Power fold mirrors are an option afaik. The mirror adjusting knob has a 6 o'clock position if fitted. Some have it other not.
These guys retrofit some options at a cost

So what I deduce is if the option is fitted then mirrors can fold when the car is locked. I had this on my fully spec'd S4 and liked it as it was a visual check I'd locked the car
Is the mirror dip on reverse an MMI option too if the car does not have memory seats?

I have folding mirrors and memory seats and my mirrors fold when locking, not when shutting of engine, as said before I use it as a visual clue to the car being locked. Folding can be deactivated in MMI but that's the only two options on and off.
Mirror dip in reverse can be activated with Carista App (
VCDS not required) and only works when you put car in reverse and mirror switch in left hand mirror control position, check yours, it may already be active.
Mirror dip without memory seats goes to a default dipped position which suits most, with memory seats you get a custom memory position which is set and remembered and changes between keys/drivers.

I don't have memory seats, but I do have mirror fold and mirror dip - all remembered by the key - as is the Audi drive select settings. (Couldn't get memory option with the bucket seats).

Long story - short version is I've bought an RS4 without memory seats and delighted to find it isn't a pre-req for folding and kerb view
Thanks everybody for your responses and hopefully it'll be useful for other potential owners

I think dipping mirror on reverse is standard. Folding mirrors were available as part of two options:
PV3, 6XL - Convenience Package (memory seats, memory mirror position and the below mirror option)
6XK - Mirrors (folding, heated & auto dimming)

Mirror dip only works when left hand mirror is selected on mirror knob. With memory seats it remembers dipper position that you set, with non-mem seats it estimates the dipped mirror's location.
With memory seats and dipped mirror this means the mirror doesn't have to dip, it could be set in another custom location like an object in your garage etc. that you have to regulaly avoid but is not capture in the standard rear view of the mirror.

All useful info, but calling Sam a

is a bit harsh!

No auto dip on my 2014 model regardless of mirror switch position

There should be! If it s not active it can be coded either via Carista or VCDS.
