Need a new windscreen

I got attacked by a rock on the M5 and need a new windscreen. I have lane assist which requires a recalibration once the screen is fitted. Insurance have said that there is no problem going to Audi but I will have to pay and claim it back which isn't a problem. Just wondered what others have done?

I'd be happy with that, 3rd party w/screens are pants!

Agreed. Go Audi all the way.

We had this done on our S5 with Lane Assist. Audi bill was £350 which was covered by Windscreen Insurance. It's a long job around 4 hours as the car needs to be laser aligned using a special jig.

When mine was replaced they just refitted a new screen reclipped the lane assist. No need for Audi to get involved and worked perfectly. The screen did come with bracket already attached and never any mention of going to audi even I asked MK Audi about a new screen, they even said they only get a local man in a van .This was on a 13 plate.
There was an old post which covered this topic which people were given conflicting info.It is interesting watching how they take the screen out .

Our S5 was a 2014 plate. I even looked up the procedure in the workshop manual to check they weren't joking.

Thanks for the replies. It would be nice to get the twats at Audi to reply! 3 times I have rung to try and get it sorted!! Autoglass who my insurers work with said that it would need re calibrating and they have the equipment at junction 22 of the M1 but its too far. My other option was to have Autoglass fit it then test it on the M1 and if I don't fly off into the hard shoulder I know it doesn't need re calibrating!

We had ours fitted but straight away got an e-mail from Autoglass saying that they couldn't guarantee the system now works ok without re-calibrating. We had the warning flick up once then booked it into Audi. Audi told us it would be £350, I laughed, checked the workshop manual and its a long time consuming job. Spoke to Insurers, they didn't bat an eyelid and said go ahead, pay, send them the invoice and then they refunded. System has been perfect ever since.
