RS4 Phone set up in car.

Hello.

New to the forum and pick up my first RS4 when i get back home from working away. As you can imagine I cant wait.

Just a quick question on the phone set up for the car. I've got the Tech pack with the car and I have a Samsung phone, does this car give me full control of contacts, messages etc? Can I use my spotify account in the car? Any info would be much appreciated.

I don't think you get more than calls, contacts and music streaming, sorry... That is if your RS4 is B8... I believe there is an Alpine head unit upgrade available in the UK (not in Australia, though), that may support much more than the original, but for a pretty hefty extra fee...

As above, you can stream music located on the device via BT but not via an app. I think potentially you could connect the phone into the AMI interface and then open the app to play music, but there will be no track control through the cars systems.

Thank you for the reply. Ill have a look at the Alpine. Id be happy with my Spotify streaming through the bluetooth connection.

In the B8 you can stream music from an app via Bluetooth, there's no need to plug it into the AMI. All the music I listen to is on my soundcloud, which I listen to in the car via the soundcloud app on my iPhone. It's also partially-controllable using the MMI.

Correct - can stream via BT from any app - Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer etc... Track information that is playing is displayed in MMI screen and you can skip forward/backward a track.

I think you can only receive and read text messages on the MMI screen if you have a voice and data SIM inserted into the dashboard slot and, only if you have that sim set up as your phone device (instead of your mobile device)

This is correct, what ever you can play via headphones/speaker (any App) on the phone will play through car via BT but only if you have the right level of MMI. I have 3G+ and it works seamlessly.

Congrats on the RS4! Yes, with the Tech Pack and a Samsung phone, you’ll get full Android Auto support. You can access contacts, messages (via voice), and use Spotify directly through the infotainment system. Just connect via USB or wireless (if supported).
